An OK win away at an opponent which seemed more interested in berating the ref than trying to beat us. A fairly lacklustre first half saw it level pegging (1-1) at HT. A very good Frannie Collin strike being cancelled out by an opportunistic flick up the other end. The second half saw Stones play with a little more purpose to gain the 3 points. Shortly after vociferous penalty appeals by the home side had been waved away Stones were awarded a penalty for a trip in the box (this time there were vociferous appeals against a penalty), which Collins duly struck home. Late on the game substitute Jay May guided a good header home from a right wing cross to wrap up the points. Not a classic performance but three away points wrapped up. The home keeper was one of the best I ahve ever seen for banter and he will be a joy when he comes to the Gallagher. I would also have to conclude that Witham Town is one of the darkest stadiums I have been in.

Dark? I didn't know whether the Gents had individual urinals or a long tank thingy. Luckily I had a mini torch on my key ring, but others must have been aiming and hoping.
No onions for the burgers and no Bovril! Don't Witham understand the traditions of football? Their chips were excellent though.
The programme was crap, but at least printed on good unlaminated paper, so I could mark up my copy with the match stats.
Oh, there was a football match as well, at least after 40 minutes. I enjoyed Nadine's report on the OS, though she tends towards levity on occasion, which Ruth would never tolerate!
