How long does this take? Surely not long in an age of emails?

"The process can take up to 30 days from the date the application is first submitted. After 30 days a temporary approval is granted if the process has not been completed. It can go through in as few as 7 days but is largely dependent on the time of the year that the application is made."
Time of the year bound to slow it down, they must have a pile of paperwork/pages of unopened emails

Thanks, Ant, but it sounds terribly slow. What exactly do they have to do to clear someone?

My understanding is that the FA need to confirm with the association that the player was previously registered with that the player's registration has been released by his former club. They need to take several forms of ID and make the request. There have been several instances over the years where certain FAs have taken time to provide this.
I'm sure there's more to it than that, but yes, it doesn't sound like it should take that long!
