Agree brown is a must, quality player that we need to keep hold of. A new right back, centre back, winger and striker First call I have heard for a new right back. Has Cox done much wrong? Seems that side of the back four has been pretty secure since his signing, maybe stronger than the left .....mmmm.....Cant agree with that I think the left with Mills has been a lot stronger and secure than the mixed bag we've had at RB this season.

I guess what he means is there's not much cover for Mills on the left although Butcher did OK there and so did Flish when he played there.

The comment referred to period since Cox was signed rather than the season as a whole which, I presume, is the reason he was brought in

Cox is improving with each game. No cover for Mills without Butcher. Centre back & holding midfielder being covered with squad players etc. due to injuries/illness/suspensions was the main reason for our poor defensive record in the second part of the season. These two signings are key for us improving us as a team. Others signings may improve us but don't address the fundamental flaws exposed.

What about Richard Davies he seems to be on the road back and looked solid before injury

To quote from Marcus Gayle this is the holding midfielder we need as well.
" a "nasty" midfield player was his main target in terms of new blood. ..... "It's clear I need more beef in midfield, someone who can put their foot in and win the ball, and still be good on the ball as well. "It's not just about running around. I need someone nasty who can do the dirty side of the game. "I've seen Eastleigh with Glen Southam in midfield and he's a little dog of war but he's a good player as well, who gets goals and puts his foot in. "He's 33 and you need that type in there to kick-start the team." While his side are no pushovers, Gayle accepted he needed more growl and added: "Yes, we are too nice. I want the team to reflect me at times. "I'm a nice person off the pitch but, hey, on it I could be a nasty individual and no-one took any liberties. "The players can be nice, that's not a problem. But when they cross that white line there must be a different button to press, in certain situations, with control as well, to mentally and physically dominate their opponent." "We need to become a team to be feared. I think we've already got that reputation now." - I think Marcus Gayle understands the ideal midfielder.
I hope Jay can find us a gem to shore up our defences.

I thought the right side of defence has been excellent recently and , as a post on the Grays match thread rightly said, Elliott C. covered some huge gaps down that side left by lack of mid-field defending/tracking back. When Elliott was drawn forward to cover the space, Jack P. covered him---they did a superb job. As they both did a few days before in the game at Met Police where Elliott's defence was outstanding in the 2nd half---as Jack's was throughout. Our full backs also add much needed pace to counter attacks . A lot---too many--of our recent goals against have been through attacks down the middle. It is easy to blame centre backs--and there have certainly been mistakes---but I do think that there sometimes needed to be more midfield tracking back following the attacking runners.

Cox is quality at right back no need for any change there but he could do with the sort protection Flish gives mills on the left side.

Oh yess it sounds just like the sort for midfilder that could help our promotion push it also sounds like a 25 year old Jay Saunders

Does this mean Orlando's days with us are numbered? Not that he was a great winger, but he was always entertaining and occasionally produced the unexpected. Rory is more reliable, but also more predictable.

...and also injury prone as well.
Not sure about Orlando, he was a danger but the end product was often so frustrating...jury still out I guess
