Just hope everyone took a moment at 3pm to remember the 96 who died at Hillsborough. No matter who you support they were fans like us who went to a game to watch thier team but never came home. RIP 96

I was at Highbury for Arsenal v Newcastle that day. I remember turning the radio on at half time to see how the FA Cup semis were progressing and hearing about the "crowd trouble" stopping the game - sadly all too familiar in that day and age..... Kept the radio on during the second half, and was shocked to hear that there had been a death at the game... By the time I left Highbury, I remember walking up Highbury Hill with my Dad, in silence, and stunned disbelief that the death toll was up to five!! It seemed incomprehensible to me that 5 people could have died watching a football match..... on the journey home it just got slowly worse and worse..... I don't remember a thing about the game I went to see! Hillsborough utterly shocked me, I cant imagine what it was like for those who were close to events, let alone families. The Taylor report came in for a lot of criticism from "real football fans" - but it was desperately needed......

That day I was at home as we didn't have a league game and watched it all unfold on TV.That day also saw our rivals for the GMVC title Kettering Town lose at Cheltenham Town, that result put Stones in the driving seat in regards to promotion to the football league.Could not even raise a cheer when I saw that result though.Terrible day.
