League since 1/1/14:
H drew 1-1 A won 1-0 A won 4-2 H drew 1-1 A lost 1-4 H won 7-2 A won 3-0 H drew 1-1 H won 3-0 A lost 1-4
That isn't 'form' it's just random results.
Apart from a depressing tendency to draw at home, this team is entirely unpredictable. There is no shape, no plan (certainly no plan B), no strategy, no leadership, no management - just a set of players doing their best, and a poor, confused, set of fans hoping for the best - but not really knowing that the fúck is going on.

Even more bizarre, our home and away form appears to be identical - 9 points from 5 games.
But the actual form is very different:
Home: DDWDW 13 for, 5 against - +8 GD Away: WWLWL 10 for, 10 against - 0 GD
We've only won twice at home, but have a GD of 8, however, although we've won three times away, we have a GD of 0.
Can anyone divine ANY sense in these results?
The 3G effect? The 'team to beat' effect? I can't see any evidence for either hypothesise.
I've got no particular feeling one way or the other for Jay, in fact I know next to nothing about him. But isn't the best fit for an explanation for this sort of 'form' poor management?

Conceding 18 goals, the constant reshuffling of the centre back pairing with Jack Parkinson. Winning teams are based on solid defences, we are very far from solid.

Conceding 18 goals, the constant reshuffling of the centre back pairing with Jack Parkinson. Winning teams are based on solid defences, we are very far from solid. I sort of agree with you there, but the stats don't really support us. Only 5 teams have conceded fewer goals than us, for instance: Stones 36 against, Hornchurch 34, Kingstonian 32, Lowestoft 30, and Wealdstone 27 (and they've played 5 fewer games). Our great rivals, Dulwich, who we all agree, play good football, have conceded 42 - 6 more than us for one game less. And Bognor have clawed their way into the play-off places with 43 goals against them. Conceding a similar number of goals to us doesn't seem to be the significant factor we might expect it to be. I think the real answer is up the other end - we DO score goals, but not enough at the right time, and, most crucially of all, we don't consistently convert our pressure and dominance into goals. The standard pattern of a Maidstone game, especially at home, is doing everything but score in the first half, and sometimes for most of the 2nd half, whilst often letting ourselves fall behind, thus increasing the pressure even more. We need to score early, and we need to convert far more attempts into goals. This is another area where the stats don't show the true picture. The 3-0 home win against Cray, for instance, felt exactly like the previous three 1-1 home draws. Up until Parkinson's goal at 77 minutes, the game had "yet another 1-1 draw" written all over it. The final score, with the 90th minute penalty, was a completely false reflection on the game. I had to miss the 7-2 game (typical!), but even there they scored first, and at half-time it felt, from the reports, more like Maidstone might be able to hold on to a narrow 3-2 lead, than the rout it became. We HAVE to start turning chances into goals, and thereby controlling games - not constantly chasing the game.

I'm not talking about over the course of the season since the Grays game we have conceded goals for fun! We don't communicate across the back, just blame eachother for calamities.

Have to agree with Rootsy re communication. It does seem to belacking. You can quite often see the goals coming because opposition players just are not being marked
