Well very sorry. I read this one first because it was at the top. I'm certainly not going to read every thread on the board just to make sure my perfectly valid response hasn't been posted already. People need to lighten up and stop telling other people where and what to post.

Does that mean you will stop periodically telling me what to post?

I think their parents sometimes have beef with them on a Sunday. Better send them your address. Will you supply biscuits for said meeting? Yes. And fondant fancies.

Does that mean you will stop periodically telling me what to post? no, you're naturally excluded on the grounds that you disregard most of the rules anyway.

People need to lighten up and stop telling other people where and what to post. The whole point of the thread was exactly what you say Daveu, I wanted people to lighten up on our designated penalty taker for taking the penalty, that is all. Not sure who was telling people where and what to post, just simply sharing an opinion that we should respect one of our hard working players rather than lambast him for doing his job. As someone else said if its Jerome S winning the penalty and asking to take it everyone would be saying different things. You talk of making mountains out of molehills, but lets face it, when was the last time at any match you saw people fighting over a penalty? It's embarrassing, childish, unprofessional and not the attitude we need when there's a league to win.

Yes Zac had the right to demand to take the penalty and to take the responsibility for it. However a captain also has to consider the whole teams composure and morale and in this instance I think it would have been beneficial for Rooney to take the penalty. I don't know if Rooney would have scored or not but he has a lot of experience and must have taken penalties before, he certainly seemed confident. If he had taken it and missed we would still have got the 3 points so not much lost, the benefit if he had scored would have proved his worth to the team and led to greater confidence amongst them in the future. Perhaps if Zac tells us all to jump in the River Medway after the next home match we will all do it because he's the captain and said so! If at the end of the season we lose on a one goal difference we will be extremely unlucky, and if it happens I'd like to say I'll eat my hat but stranger things have happened. Now it's water under the bridge so COYS
