I would hope that Oliver's lobbying from the top down, so that it's not Maidstone and Sutton but UEFA and FIFA who are telling the Conference to get into the 21st century.
"Cher Michel,
Je vous écris pour vous demander de permettre notre terrain en plastique au niveau da la Conférence Sud..."

If Skrill are pulling out of sponsoring the Conference, and I think I'm right in saying that before they signed the deal at the begining of this season, new sponsors weren't exactly queing up, maybe this presents an opportunity for 3G manufacturers to come up with a sponsorship deal and put their name on the league... Maybe Oliver's even got one of them lined up to do just that

The arguement is not being addressed properly. Oliver has not gone to the conference clubs and said you must install a 3G pitch, it's please allow maidstone to play and anyone else brave enough to start putting their football club on a more solid financial footing. If the chairmen looked at Maidstones' results they would show a better points return away from home on the bogs, or is that our advantage?

Skrill are on online payment company, along similar lines to Paypal - but far-far less famous! Oh thanks for explaining that. I thought Skrill were the animals at the bottom of the food chain - but I bow to your superior knowledge of all things food related, Bryan!

Is the ghost of Jim Thompson still haunting us ?? His ghost is probably stalking the corridors of Dartford FC, judging by the muddy ectoplasm on their pitch.

I miss him. Having to wish a man well you really didn't like at all for the sake of your club added a certain something to one's football experience.
There was also the thrill and fright of what appeared at times to be a runaway circus.
But then, as a West Ham fan, I should be well used to such things. I can't wait for DiCanio to become manager there!
The modern MUFC is quite calm, even dull, by comparison - a quality mostly very appreciated, as I decline into the 'concession' period of my life, but occasionally I miss the thrill of not quite knowing what the hell was going to happen next...

I saw a posting on the Merthyr Town Forum. Posting from 'The Wanderer' Actual voting earlier this week at the Conference EGM on allowing 3G playing surfaces: Conference National Clubs = 7 in favour 17 against Conference South Clubs = 3 in favour 1 against Conference North Clubs = 1 in favour 3 against Both Sutton United (who proposed the motion) and Dorchester (who supported the motion) declined to speak on the proposal! Quite surprised that there was almost 30% support from Conference National Clubs. If it does go to another vote so soon after this one how many might change there vote ?
