Main report on back of Herne Bay Times today is all about Herne Bay FC wanting a 3g pitch and looking to try and get a grant to get it.
Manager Sam Denly says, "I only recently stopped playing myselfand I was never an advocate of 3g pitches until I went to Maidstone. It's a great stadium and a great surface they've got there. It's excellent and I'm all for it. It's got to be the way to go. It creates good revenue for the club and the playing surface is decent as well and here at Herne Bay we're looking into it."

Clearly shows that we need to continue to invite as many "swing vote" clubs to pre-season friendlies and the like in order to demonstrate the benefits on game day and as part of the wider club experience (economically and community engagement).
It would be interesting if the Conference were a bit more transparent and we could work out which clubs were definitely against 3G. For example Eastleigh made a bit song'n'dance about not being able to train on it before the game earlier this season; did this impact their decision? Or perhaps their own 3G (i.e. their training pitch) is not of the same high FIFA standards as ours so they feel it unsuitable for competitive games.

Are you saying you want swingers down at the Gallagher, lfc?
