Good find Binsey! Time after time studies and consultations undermine the case against 3G

Excellent read - clearly academic material is not high on the list of reading undertaken by Skill Chairmen.

Already read it, a few times. Always a sign of a good book. Gets better and better with every read.

Excellent read - clearly academic material is not high on the list of reading undertaken by Skill Chairmen. Not many football chairmen stray into the world of academia. A far greater number are proud to attend the University of Life, where they can acquire a set of skills more suited to their purposes - and, to be fair, they are paid to use whatever talents they possess to protect their clubs' selfish interests. So don't expect any scientific paper to have an influence on their self-serving arguments... unless it's forced on them.

If only you had all asked. I read up about this last year when arguing with someone about 3g and injury risks.
The results from studies so far suggest lowered muscle injury risk and higher ankle injury risk.

The results from studies so far suggest lowered muscle injury risk and higher ankle injury risk. My issue with the studies is that nowhere mentions if the players are wearing boots with studs or blades. 3g requires studs as its well known that wearing blades can lead to twist injuries as the blades grip too much if your turned. If a study was undertaken of 3g where the players had all been wearing the correct studs i bet the numbers of injuries on 3g would be considerably less than on grass

You are bound to be more vulnerable in the tackle in a pair of Jimmy Choos or Louboutins!
