At the beginning of the season, as a fan, my main aim/concern was for us to maintain momentum and not lose the "feel good" factor surrounding that had eluded the club for all those years.
As a result my pre-season hopes were such that I would have been happy if we were within touching distance of the play offs.
We'd let some decent players go in Welford, Osbourne, and Ibrahim but equally we had signed one of the best goal-keepers in non league football and a striker who carried the tag "goal machine"
After the opening days match the step up from Ryman South was clear but overall I think we've adapted well.
Disappointments - For me the injuries (which I appreciate have been out of control) and in particular the one to Richard Davies, after a shaky start he was beginning to show he is more than capable at this level. Orlando's injury has removed some of the flare from the team, Flish's form at the beginning of the season was nothing like what we were used to but I do think in recent weeks (and having been forced to play out of position) he is getting back to his old self. Tom Phipps return to Ebbsfleet was a bit of a blow.
Highlights - Having a striker who has scored 20 goals before the New Year, bringing in another striker who has added something different, signing Jack Parkinson, The win against Kingstonian when they were top of the league and yet to concede a goal. The first half performance away at Hampton and Richmond on non league day. The late goals against Wealdstone in the FA Trophy (both games)
WTF? - How did we win that game at Canvey? How did we capitulate against Harrow at home? How have we not been awarded a single penalty in the league so far this season? How did that goal conceded against Hornchurch stand?
2 points off top at this stage - Thank you very much
