Sorry but yes the crowds will drop , football fans in general watch their team in the hope they will get promoted , people will lose interest if this is as high as we can go !! I can see a slight fall off in support from the floaters, granted, but in the bad old days of the late 60s, there was no promotion and relegation from the Isthmian League, if I recall correctly, and we still went along to support our (losing) team through thin and thin. But there's a simple solution - we just have to win the Ryman Premier year after year until the Conference are embarrassed into changing their rule! People like to support a winning team, so the majority should still turn up if the team is entertaining them.

So we need 15 votes for the rule change to go through.Looking at the clubs involved its going to be hard to win over the ex-league brigade who might be a bit cautious. So i wonder if the fact that most League 2 clubs were in favour when the FL voted on it a while back might sway it a bit towards us next week?.My gut feeling is that a few will abstain from voting and we will miss out.Out of interest would the Conference clubs or the League have to pay Maidstone's legal fees if we won a legal battle in the courts?.

I'm watching the Irish league cup final highlights...played on 3g by the looks of it. I didn't realise at 1st but noticed clean knees. The pitch has a brush pattern to it that makes it appear its been mowed.

I don't see why crowds will be affected if the Stones are refused promotion (assuming they qualify).
The Conference are going to be revisiting the 3G issue every season until they finally see sense. It won't just disappear if there's a 'no' vote this year.
On that basis Maidstone will be playing for promotion every year just like they used to when they needed to be "elected" to the Football League.

Oxfordinmaid has shown a lack of understanding about fans at this level

Good point, distantfan. I don't remember people stopping turning up when we were refused pomotion on the old elcetion basis. On the contrary; after being refused promotion in 1982/83 our average league attendance dropped the following season and every season after until we left The Athletic Ground - just saying.

So people were still turning up then. As I said. I don't recall people stopped turning up. What happened to football attendances in general in the 1980s?
