On this upcoming Sunday Bishops Stortford play Northampton in the FACup Round 1, the game being shown live from the Prokit Stadium Dunmow Road on ITV ( 2PM kick off ).
For Older Stones, this should bring back memories of an epic 3rd Round Qualifying Reply tie in October 2003, when the Stones ( then a Kent League side ) lost 3 - 2 in Hertfordshire to a stunning last minute goal by Glen Southam of Stortford.
Stones team that night was: Hudson, Bradbrook, Barton, Edwards, Davis, Lamb, Lacy, Horan, Sinden, Davey & Appleton ( subs Marshall, Griffin & Steve Hogg ). Heroes each and every one, but who can forget Nick Davis's headed goal from a corner to make it ( briefly ) 2 - 1. What a star Nick was ! Also, Lacy played Wing Back and ran himself into the ground for the Stones.
Real support that night as well from the travelling Stones fans, a brilliant night even if it ended as a huge let down.......

I remember it well, that same Glen Southam is now captain of Eastleigh so he will be playing against us at the GS in the next round of the trophy.

Fastastic night, dont remember how many we took, probably 200-250, but the atmosphere was the best I can remember with the stones fans out signing Stortford through out. And when that goal from Nick went in, wow!!! Their Chairman was impressed aswell, as he paid for our supporters coach to come back for a friendly next preseason! The down side to the friendly, was it must have been the only clubhouse that managed to fcuk up lager!
Oh happy days!

What a night that was and I spent the next eight weeks off work after ripping a muscle in my back when a fellow support (and work mate) jumped on me during the goal celebration!
Also remember Stroody running on the pitch then taking his shirt off so the stewards wouldn't recognise him - him subsequently being the only person in the ground naked from the waist up on a freezing cold night!
