For me, the situation is that the League won't permit 3G pitches, because then their member clubs won't be eligible for promotion to the Premier League; and the Conference won't allow them because then their member clubs can't join the League. So if we get the Premier League to change their thinking (because they care so much about the ironically named 'grass'-roots football that they realise that sustainable businesses are relevant while other clubs are going to, or heading rapidly towards, the wall), then surely the whole situation is resolved?

That's far too logical for the idiots in charge of the Premier league and the FA

I'm far from convinced the FA and The Premier League give any thought to the plight of grass roots football and the non league clubs that traditionally uncover good English talent.
How many English managers are there in the Premier league that would have any influence on how the dictatorship of the Premier League could help non league football in this country. And why would the non English managers care about the future of the English national side?
I doubt the likes of Arsene, Jose and Manuel are even aware 3G pitches aren't allowed as low down the pyramid as the conference. They probably just assume they are as most teams train on them and they are allowed in countries across Europe.

I think the posts previously encapsulate both the mood and the state of 'our' football today. They don't give a shite for grassroots football as long as the sty is awash with money in the upper echelons. They trot out lame excuses as to why England are so often puffed up only to fade badly like the proverbial damp squib ( (remember remember . .) Recently, following correct criticism, they realised that with the normal reality of black players in football they had better engage in some tokenism. Rio Ferdinand? No No No, if one examines his twitter nonsense but Brendan Batson who I once met or even old Garth Crooks. They are both erudite and not self seeking, power hungry 'old school tie' 1960 throwbacks. Anyhoo, the point I'm hopefully making and reinforcing is that change at the top is long overdue and now time for a radical overview including rethinking the 3g issue. COYS! And I'm sorry but as proud and nationalistic as I am England have not a chance in the next world cup. Also, while I'm on a roll, the premier league may be exciting (so sky tell us often enough) but it is not the best in the world with ALL things considered. My view it is the Bundesliga. P.s. not even gone into the 'monkey'chanting by the Russian neanderthals. Yep. World cup hosted by them!!!
