Just a quick thread, was reading some article re Ryman League wages virtually on parity with Conf South/North, any ideas what our wage bill is? and how much our chaps are on compared to the rest?

Not enough to sustain a wag.

Not enough to sustain a wag. Depends on their day job though really.

Angels fans would have you believe our wage bill was on a par with Conf Prem, as Worgs and Frannie clearly dropped a level for the money; nothing to do with wanting to play in front of more than a couple of hundred people or indeed not wanting the travel involved in playing for a Conf South club.

With their regular job and footy dosh combined it still wouldn't be a quarter of what heathside earns in half a day.

Bit of googling turns up the below average wages per week for the higher divisions. Pinch of salt required here as from different sources and some figures are for 2010, but should be reasonably accurate. Likely that appearance and performance bonuses will increase the below numbers too.
Premier League - 22k per week Championship - 4k per week League One - 1.5k per week League Two - 750 per week Conference Prem - 550 per week Conference South - ?? Ryman Prem - ??
Based on the above 300-400 per week for Conf South/Ryman Prem would seem a sensible guess, so roughly 250-300k per year for a squad of our size?

I may have misinterpreted this post (it's early!), but are you suggesting our annual wage bill is 250-300k a year...?!

Just a guess based on the above average per player. If the average player is on £300 per week (or per game including cup games) that's about £15k per man per year. Musnt forget players will then pay tax on that themselves so wont see that full amount.
18 man squad at £15k per man equal £270k per year. Based on our revenue being just over the £1m last year that's about 20-25% of revenue on players wages which doesn't seem extreme given what happens in the higher leagues.
Obviously there's some assumptions here, would welcome others opinions if they think its wildly out,

The leagues quoted are full time - we are not - so the weekly wage is for most (if not all) not being paid over the summer. We may have a few (Worgan, Collin, Attwood, Watt - maybe Mills and Flisher?) on £300+ but this is certainly not an average over the whole squad, surely?
Purely opinion as I think yours is wildly out...not saying it's wrong though!

Opinions what here's all about. What I would say is that once travel (training etc) and tax has come off £300 a player might be left with less than £200. If I'm close or over the top just shows how the 3G and associated spend (about £150-£200k) is so important to the club.

Exactly my point toon. Whether the club pays tax and NI for the players or gives them enough to pay it themselves the cost to the club is the same and we'll be paying out more than the players actually see in their pockets. Whatever the lads are being paid this year most importantly and happily for us they're definitely earning it so far this year.

We only got worgs cos he was done drink driving so he couldn't get to angels games as easy as he lives in the stone. Fran was on £900 a week at angels. Dan Stubbs was on £150 a week and left because he wasn't offered £200 as promised, only £175
