Omg Tonbridge fans are gonna hate us even more now. Reading their forum is very entertaining. They lurch from No Surrender to MFI to 'well it isn't important'. They were interested in our apparent boycott of the game. I'm guessing that was Bryan's comment about not giving them dosh. Personally, I didn't go because I was doing something far more important than going to a pre-season friendly tonight. It would not have mattered who the oppo was. Anyway, apparently we all boycotted our own ground for 24 years. Strange comment from someone supporting a team that had a home gate of 170ish in the Connie South last season. Embarrassing for them although nice to see solidarity from our Kentish brethren for our 24 year boycott. Perhaps someone had better tell them that it ended last year. I also managed to learn that the ref was rubbish (obviously, because we could not have won by ourselves) and that Dan, Dan the lavatory man is getting bored identifying halfwit Maidstone fans masquerading as Angels fans. It only took four years to catch this 'halfwit'. My, my Daniel is a quick-witted one isn't he?

I read with interest a post above saying it was a brilliant game. For the most part it was dull and pedestrian - particularly from us. Not a complaint, just an observation and not a surprise due to it being in the middle of a run of 3 friendlies in 5 days.
Yet we still managed to beat them

Without doubt they worst we have played in pre season! And we resorted back to lumping it long when the forwards were to isolated! We were awful first half and were getting outplayed in central midfield and in wide areas! They started well and it took us till the 2nd half to get into it really ! The more the game went on we got a little better and managed to pinch it! But not a great game!

Personally I thought it was quite a good game between 2 quite evenly matched sides.
However, considering all the grief they give us about our "plastic" pitch, that pitch last night was not conducive for good passing football. The grass was too long and the ball didn't run smoothly and kept getting held up, in fairness I don't think they could cut the grass shorter, owing to the recent hot spell etc etc.
This meant a lot of "hoofball" was played but it was still a fairly well contested game, which neither team deserved to lose.

"Crunching tackle" and probably illegal. But I love the way the Angels defender decides to "die" when he sees it's a goal.

Do they boycott their own games or were all 5 of them busy last night?

Definite foul, but definite goal according to the ref, look at the result
Oh dear..... How sad...... Never mind.......
Lets face it if it was defender on one of our forwards making that tackle we would be screaming for a pen BUT as the Mangles forum says, it's a pre-season freindly and they don't matter, so why get worked up about it?

A few years ago we had a player sent off for punching (quite rightly) yet he had been clearly punched first and retaliated. Angels fans denied this had happened. I guess what goes around comes around.
Great tackling and goal by Sobers
