Who was your pick tonight?
New Signings: Lee Worgan looked very assured, great communication with the back four and made a stunning save in the second half. Fabio looked very composed and organised the team very well with good talking especially to the youngsters. Frannie looked like he will be a top class addition, didn't do a great deal but showed glimpses of his class.
Trialists: Leon McKenzie (not the former PL player turned boxer) looked very strong, had a good first touch and made good use of the ball and pounced to give us a 1-0 lead. Also I thought Lea Dawson (18) had a great second half, Orlando Smith looked lively but made a couple of wrong decisions.
Youngsters: Charley Robertson had a good second half and topped it off with a goal and Sullivan did well in the first half.
Very positive in terms of the players who didn't even get involved, it gave Jay a chance to look at a number of options against a decent well organised Tunbridge Wells side, who I wish every success next season.

Cheers Rootsy, can't picture Mckenzie, was he at Hornchurch when we last played them ? Were the changes to the ground complete ?

The players that impressed me the most tonight were Steve Okoh, Leon McKenzie and Charley Robertson. Okoh seemed very assured once again, and continues to be the youth player I am most excited about (especially after his performance in the kent cup last year). Charley Robertson was instrumental in everything we did in the second half, was keen to receive the ball, delivered some good crosses and it was a well controlled header for the goal.
Leon Mckenzie is the kinda player I think we need. Strong, good at holding up the ball and with a very good first touch. He linked up with draycott very well. He also followed up okoh's shot well for the goal.
Obviously it is hard to judge after one game, but those were my thoughts overall.

New burger/food van is ready and parked up down the far end, the family area is still ongoing but started, the foundations for the new end of terrace are down although it does look small! Didnt see the new tiolet area. The new club shop is there but looks like a greenhouse and a bit out of place to me.
Good positives from last night, mr collin seems to know where the goal is which is good. I was impressed with Robertson second half.

I was impressed with Charley Robertson. I thought he played with a real awareness of what was around him. He didn't try to be flash just did the simple things but did them well. I also thought the number 11 (sorry don't know the names) second half played well. It's a shame he didn't quite manage to finish his chance when through on goal but other than that he ran the channels well and popped up all over the place to cause problems. He has that long gangly sort of build that defenders find difficult to deal with. Number 17 showed some nice touches and moments of skill. Not afraid to have a dig either. Yes, agree, Mr Collins looked hungry to get goals.

I know it was only a pre-season friendly and each player (apart from Worgs) only played 45 mins, but I was impressed by a number of players. Charley Robertson was brilliant and is worth keeping in mind for the 1st team, played with lots energy and is an attack minded player. Probably helped with Flish playing left back.
I don't think any of the players looked out of depth and most were comfortable on the ball.
In terms of our new signings, Worgs was assured, and Collin clearly has class....but Fabio was brilliant in terms of his reading of the game and his selection of passes. Dawson will surely be a Maidstone player come the start of the season as he was just everywhere, I know he only played 45 mins but he was/is the classic box to box player, he just never stopped running.
As for Leon McKenzie I thought he did well and maybe the answer to our target man problem, Aaron Gayle who came on in the second half is also worth looking at again.
Nicky Humphreys looked good and was clearly talking to the youngsters and guiding them through the game.......there was very very little long ball stuff last night, and the football was played mainly to feet.

theres a lad called josh who is having trials at the mo who I think was ment to play lastnight. if he gets a chance, watch for his lethal shot. played against him a few times and he is emense. full of confidence. even shatty struggled to contain him. good luck to him, a good lad, well mannered.
steve ward is still fooked from us giving him the run around in the supporters vs directors/semi pro's match.
