As his dad I will always, whether he is right or wrong, stand by him and protect him. Getting slaughtered on here by some when the fault was not his was unacceptable. Paying for a ticket every week doesn't give anyone the right to get personal and abusive. I simply straightened out a few misunderstood facts to help the blind to see clearly. As a parent would you not do the same ?? By the way a way back is not a viable option at this time IMO. HOPE THIS HELPS. Yes I would always try to defend my offspring...but I would also always try to do what was best for them. If you think that airing all this in public is the best way to go for Dan then so be it Where then should it be aired and cleared up. As untruths have been made public and character assassination has taken place in two areas of public domain I feel it's only right to defend the situation in the same way. There exists no arbitrary body to defend him against all this crap. So I stepped in. It's interesting, once again, that the same people who sang his praises towards the end of the season, are so quick to deride and chastise WITHOUT KNOWING ALL OF THE FACTS. Now that I have made it clear should he be expecting an apology from anyone ?? I think I would have to say don't hold your breathe son. If anyone is offended by the truth and my airing it on here is misguided then I will live with it. I can assure you that if any of you were in the same predicament you would, or should , do the same. The only other route would be the FA and get their opinion on the whole matter. Not relevant though so that's a non starter . It's academic now because the MS door is firmly shut from all angles. This is only nonleague for goodness sake and sadly too many think that the club are above reproach and will always do what's right. Not in this case I'm afraid IMO. Tell me please how you have reacted in my situation and enlighten me. NO-one at the club is saying anything much are they. If I am slandering them let them come out and say so. I'm expecting to get banned form this forum because the truth always hurts. Enlighten me please and I await your informed reply.

This forum is unofficial so you should have no fear of getting banned.
As I said, if you feel this is the best thing for Dan then sobeit, I just wouldn't have thought he would appreciate it (then again kids never do!). Having given my view as a parent, I am also a son, and would be quite embarrassed if my dad was doing this on my behalf

Having given my view as a parent, I am also a son, and would be quite embarrassed if my dad was doing this on my behalf Sorry but I find it hard to believe that you would be happy to have people saying as some have on here without some form of defence. I do appreciate what you are saying but were he to say it rather than me would it make it any different ?? I can imagine that some would only say that it was sour grapes and he was never a MS player anyway. It's been said before by some. That aside, he is aware and very angry and offended that the comments have been made and doesn't think, on this occasion, he has done anything to deserve it. I make him right. He is also aware of many aspects of this extended conversation and I really don't think you can judge what you may or may not like unless you are in the middle of it. I am completely done on his subject now. There has been overwhelming pm's of support and disappointment over this for him and he is extremely grateful. I will always fight his corner particularly when his hands are tied due to politics and or etiquette or indeed other people's opinion. As I said elsewhere he doesn't need this right now and it's hard for me to hear that he is now considering giving up the game because of all the messers that are in it. I do still under stand your points and I hope to some degree you can understand mine. So in summation this was all started in a public domain and will end in one.

I can understand your points 100% the only thing I would disagree with is the decision to slate the club and "come out" as his dad (whilst respecting the honesty). I just think a simple statement on here, either your view or on his behalf may have been the better route rather than the rant at the club
On a sidenote I understand he had a bit of concern on Friday and hope that this has come to nothing.

As angry as you both may feel I would hazard a guess that your comments on here have gone some way to suggest he will never play for Maidstone again.

I'm not slating the club Antstone I just want the truth to be told, nothing more. Last Fridays KM jay stated that he hadn't heard from dan. Not true. Then some supporters on here started on him in an unacceptable way. That's what I have objected and reacted to. Slating the the club would not be accurate although may appear to be just so. I am saying that the truth hasn't been told and Dan doesn't deserve what has been said by some and it's due to the club representative stating inaccuracies in public and therefor causing all that has taken place. I really don't think I can state this any clearer really. He isn't supportive of what I am doing but he hasn't asked me to leave it either. Believe me he would if it were necessary. He is bewildered and extremely disapproving ( to put it politely) of the whole matter. More than anything he is so disappointed not to be playing next season for the club. I will take your view though and desist further in all aspects of this acrimonious situation. I am gutted though that he is not concerned with finding a club for next season. Nice chatting with you sir.

That decision was out of everyone's hands outside of the club at least, last week. My comments on here are to quite as bad as those made last week in the press. Whilst I am aware two wrongs do not a right make, blame if any is to be apportioned several ways here. Someone threw the proverbial at the fan and it seems to have hit and offended many in several different ways. So it shouldn't have been thrown in the first place methinks.

I have to agree with bystander , we had all this bollocks when Humpty Dumpty was in charge . After this with Stubbs and the whole Davisson thing it seems to me we are going back to those dark days. I actually thought after a meet and greet with the directors and manger at the beginning of last season it was the start of something more honest and open about the club. Never had another one !!! Although we were told there would be more. If someone is not telling the truth about your own then well done for trying to defend them. Unless your brother is shakey then you don't have to

The point is try and be honest then you don't have any of what's happened with Stubbs. I actually thought Stubbs was one our best players but played in the wrong position.

But we have only heard hear say on both sides. From a son to his Dad, and I know that son's don't always tell the whole truth, and Before Alan Stubbs comes on I am not calling Dan a liar, but we have heard two stories one from a newspaper, and one from the father of the player involved. I must admit I am still not sure on the whole truth. All I know is that Dan won't be with us next season and that is a shame but the club is bigger than any one player, and hope things go well for Dan, and that things move on, what is done is done, and won't change the outcome so we must all move on.

weather or not you agree with stubbs holding out for money thats his right like we all do,if you dont like the money on offer you try and get better elsewhere, best of luck to him he obviously not done it for football reasons and he will no doubt be gracing the Ryman south next league season with Hythe.

Bystander as a Dad you are entitled to to defend your Son.
But the club do not want to go back to past regimes of insolvency. They have publicly stated their policy on players wages and will stick to it.
The owners want to enhance the fans' experience and as a fan I welcome money spent to that effect.

Think it's best to put this to bed to be honest.
In Dan's defense, spoke to him after play off win and was obvious that he was made up, felt a lot for the club etc as a local (aylesford) lad. He probably asked for a rise, which was considered.
From Jays point of view he's been inundated with players contacting him expressing interest. That takes time to work through and consider also. Need to remember that this is part time - plus the fact he is a dad of 4 (1 under a month old) - lets get real and give the bloke a chance to get on his life.
Basically saying that all sides had different agendas which didn't tally but everyone needs to move on.
Re: directors meet and greet - I have personally seen and often said hello to Terry and most home games. Couldn't get a more approachable chairman.

Also the club have to drawn the line somewhere - £30-£50 a week rises per man across the squad stacks up!
Soon as they break for one, you can guarantee every other player will be straight in afterwards! It's the way non-league works!
Best of luck to Dan - thanks for vital contribution in the run in.
