nature of the beast, they come and they go, for whatever reasons. they might love their footie, and maybe the club, but they will go where they think they'll be happiest (for whatever reasons). pretty much the same and echoed in all walks of life. that's why bale, Ronaldo, stubbs, welford wont be with stones next year

As I said......he did and does want to be..with Maidstone, he was so looking forward to next season.....someone should be asking Jay why both last season and the next he has done the same thing to DS at both opportunities. He has a delusional agenda. Lets hope that what goes around..... Comes around soon.

So why did he not sign then? Holding out for more money by the looks of it! I am with JS on this one, the offer was there and he didn't take it, good luck at Hythe DS...more money, a lower league and a smaller window for any scouts looking for non league starlets.....silly boy!

Regardless of what happened who said or did what and whose at fault, by going public on facebook Mr Stubbs has cut himself off from being able to be signed. Could and should have made comments like this after an official statement by the club. A KM report has never been a particularly accurate or could ever be classed as an official statement of the clubs position.

I'm going to guess that you have more of an interest in Dan as you may be related (I may be completely wrong but you seem to know a lot more than most) as all of you posts have been related to him. On a previous thread you said "Just want to clarify for some doubters..........offer was made, Dan asked for a bit more, JS stated no more available" I don't think there are any hidden agendas. If Dan really wanted to stay and is now gutted perhaps he should have accepted the first offer straight away and not tried chancing his arm for more. I would guess when he came here for the third time the money was explained to him. I may be wrong but it isn't the first time he's moved on for money. I will be the first to admit that most at this level will move for the money (and would be stupid not to) but we have seen this season more players are coming here for less money than they would have got higher up. I'm a firm believer of the old saying "You've made your bed now you have to lie in it".

Personally am glad the club is not offering silly money. Good financial management in my opinion. Should have just accepted the original offer. Only himself to blame IMO.

Agreed, its the same old story with him. He'll be at another club by Christmas anyway.
Has he ever spent a whole season with one club?

Nice lad, but as Geoffrey Boycott said of Carl Hooper, nowt between the ears. Shame he can't fit in with the club's "delusional agenda" of getting promoted without going bust.

I know nothing about what has happened, but if I was a betting man I'd suspect that since making the original offer someone else has come along who Jay likes the look of. The fact that Dan turned down the original offer has given him the opportunity to turn to that other person. I don't understand why people think it is wrong for Dan to have asked for more than the original offer. Surely that's just negotiation and we all do it. Doesn't mean he doesn't want to play for us!

Negotiation yes!
Offer made & not accepted. Time to move on. Preplanning for next season has to continue.

I'm not saying any of this on DS behalf this is MY opinion. It just seems one hell of a way to treat someone who had the ' audacity ' to ask for more, and not very much more at that. That scenario is so common place at ALL LEVELS it's not only accepted but is expected by almost everyone involved in the game. It's called ' negotiation '. What we have here is nothing more than arrogance and a complete lack of respect shown for a player who was told by others as well as Jay involved at the club that he would be playing for MSTONE next season. This is nothing more than me sounding off re something that should not have happened in this way, it's a disgrace. But as someone has already said the bed has been made etc. by the way remember this situation please when any of you have the inclination to ask for a pay rise or attempt to negotiate over what you think you may be worth in your day to day lives...........you may end up jobless ........it appears that only DOES it happen but also that the world and his wife will AGREE that you were despicable and badly thought of for doing it. Jay did exactly the same where ever he played and so do all players who have been playing above Kent league..............leave the beloved and revered club out of the equation, look at this situation as though it were you. Consider how YOU would feel having had the same treatment for having asked for around £30 quid more.....and be honest with yourselves please. JS could have let him know weeks ago that he had others in the pipeline that he preferred. Jay was just covering his arse and keeping DS on the back burner for convenience. This would imply he used him, and for the second time too. IMO it sucks. I do understand all of the negative responses though because you support the club and I would be the same.
