Sometimes they can be bitter and twisted. A club whose supporters cant accept that we re a far bigger club despite being a league below them. I've been enjoying their bitter rambling a all week but this one really is grasping at straws 'Is it me or do I have a feeling of deja vu concerning Maidstone. Sittingbourne went down this road 20 years ago (buy anything that moves - b****r the cost!). Look what has happened since to them. Be careful Maidstone!!' The differences between us & Sittingbourne are too many too mention but I'll try a few: >Our attendances, even when we were sharing at Bourne Park were probably over 3 times theirs >Dont think we spent anywhere near as much on our stadium as they did on Central Park (in real terms- obviously theirs was some time ago) >as far as I'm aware, apart from Stuart King, we haven't 'bought' anyone. I presume Jay has been given a budget based upon revenues which are sustainable (if we've sold 400 plus season tickets we've probably already taken close on what the Mangles will take all season without anyone paying on the gate, let alone other purchases whilst at the games). This has nothing to do with splashing the cash but is to do with fulfilling our potential. If we were a Whitehawk type club spending this sort of money they'd have a point ( & perhaps they should be more concerned about them this season) but we're not! Anyway I have a real feeling that we could be playing them next year, & if we're not its because they've been relegated ;D Being brutally honest about tonbridge, I think they ve gone as far as they can. They can bleat on as much as they want about us making the same mistakes and the Mfi jibes but the fact of the matter is the way the club is run now is light years away from the way it was run late eighties early nineties. The 3G pitch itself is evidence enough of that. Can stomach most local forums but a large number of comments on their forum recently about us stink of downright jealousy and bitterness.

And they are still going on about us on their forum
- referring to Collin and Worgan as "the two that went down the road" - and how footballers should want to play at the highest level and not be motivated by money
Perhaps they just need to accept we are on our way up and they are on their way down

The Mangles forum are still providing my summertime entertainment
Quote
Maidstone's fans let the club die.
The fans deserted the club when the club needed them most.
They were provided free transport, to go and watch the team ...but they didn't....They played in the football league ,AFTER YEARS IN A NATIONAL LEAGUE......BUT Dartford was too far...
So the Scum let there club die.
Now they have 250 loyal and true fans and 1500 plastic mongs who no nothing...THE mongs have no shame either as most say they are an elapsed or a returning old fan .....after they helped Kill the club. They fib about the gate too...I went there twice last season once when we were there...and the other when they had Eastbourne Town at home, I went with an ET fan.!!
That day the gate was officially put down as about 1650 if I recall ....bored out of my head watching the brand of hoof ball on a carpet.i counted the crowd with a generous head- count... I looked in the bar ...I got up to approx. 1300...no way were there more than that in there.
Maidstone's way has always been total bbb...ever since they decided to start competing Properly before that they played in very weak leagues with dodgy greek names!!!
Them splashing the cash like a top conference side or ex league side is very typical. They will be hated and win no friends ..just a **** club with money watched mainly by knobs who know nothing about supporting a team....day I had there with Eastbourne I was amazed at the amount of "other team" shirts I saw....most London Clubs .....Man U ,Liverpool and Gillingham....! you often see one or two at non -league grounds......but the Gallagher really is a shrine to plastic!
Don't know what there problem is, cause apparently Worgs and Frannie weren't that good anyway.

Classic stuff on the Tonbridge forum lol, they seem to have a real problem with us getting crowds 3 times the size of theirs. Seems that jealousy is rearing its head at other Kent non league grounds, fact is Maidstone is a big town and the club are being sensible with the funds for a sustainable future, makes perfect sense, something obviously in short supply in Tonbridge!

That's OK. I'm quite happy for them to wallow in the cesspit of their self pity.

They are actually only doing themselves damage, what true fan wants to read any of that on their forum? I would have thought their energy would have been better spent trying to improve the reputation of the club. If you follow Frannie on twitter you'll know how shocked he is at the reaction of their fans, a total disregard for anything Mr Collin had done for the club, and a total lack of appreciation for what Frannie Collin wants.
Despite Stuart King dividing opinion I'd to think he would be welcomed back at the GS any time, and most fans thanked him for his efforts and wished him the best, and what SK did for us is not a patch on what FC did for them.
As for the constant gripes about the 3G pitch, it is laughable that the fans of a club sinking fast should be so small minded about something that is clearly the future. They may be correct in thinking our fans let our club die but they are hardly learning from it are they.
We all know what colour the future is and I fear for the true Angels fans who want nothing but the best for their club

Fair point about the other shirts on display at the GS though. Many fans have links to other clubs (myself included) but to flaunt it whilst pledging to be supporting another team has always struck me as strange

Just to enlighten those with less dealings with Tonbridge than me.
1) They have denied in the past that they are desperate to have a rivalry with us. Now they are complaining that these players have joined their biggest rivals.
2) The individual who runs the website told me in 2003 that our low crowds at the time were nothing to do with playing outside Maidstone. Yep looks like he had his finger on the pulse.
Now we have the desparate attempts of the one supplying the rant quoted above. Seriously, he is devoid of anything worthwhile to say and would run a mile from debate on the subject. Moaning about us having only 250 loyal fans (we used to regularly get more than that in the Kent League) is pure silly. Why doesn't he stop and start thinking where the 2,000+ that turned up for play off day have gone or indeed where the deserters as soon as they have struggled have gone. Average last season of 504 compared to 663 the year before. One game got 170! I would have thought that was bad for us when we played in the Kent League let alone BSS.
As for the different shirts....we play virtually in town centre. We attract casual supporters (judging by the drop in their attendances at least 1/5 of their crowd is such). I note the author of the rant forgot to mention how many people were in Maidstone shirts. More than 504 I suspect.
I thank them for Lee and Frannie and then they can left to be all lemon.
