Steven Watt Defender
Date of birth: 1 May 1985 Place of birth: Aberdeen, Scotland Height: 6ft 3in Previous clubs: Aberdeen, Chelsea, Swansea, Ross County and Grimsby.
Steven Watt signed for Dover Athletic in July 2011. He started training with the club on Adam Birchall's recommendation.
The commanding central defender was spotted by Chelsea whilst playing in Aberdeen's youth set-up. He made his Chelsea debut against Scunthorpe United in the FA Cup in January 2005.
After four years at the London club, he joined Swansea but saw little playing time, partly due to a shoulder injury. He returned to Scotland to join Ross County after a successful trial and went on to play 43 times for them.
Watt joined Grimsby in August 2010 and was a regular in the first half of the season, making 25 appearances in total and scoring twice.
Steven made the decision to move south and rejected offers from Blue Square Bet Premier clubs to go part-time, as he looks to pursue a career in football coaching.

Looks a useful addition, for one month only presumably because Jay expects Nicky Humphrey to be fit by then. Could those doubters now give Jay some credit? You can't pick up a player with Watts' pedigree from just anywhere, whenever you want.

Hopefully he's what we want, I see it's on an initial months deal so we'll have the option of extending it i'd expect. With Greenfield going this week we can't rely on what we have at present can we? Humphrey/Andrews/Ward and Tim O filling in, well done though Jay!

Looks a useful addition to what is the team with the second best defensive record in the league (based on having played more games than Dulwich and Leatherhead).
Although lets dicount Ramsgate -Goal difference being only + 6 to our + 33.

I love the idea that this guy has played for Ross County in the lower reaches of the Jock Football League. Should be more than capable of handling the "rougher" side of Ryman Football. I can't wait to see him disposing of some of the prima donna's and posers who roll around the Gallacher each week against us. The porky scouting network has gone into action concerning this chap, and will report any findings on here............

Some update information on Steven Watt:
a) No luck looking at Scottish sources so far ( wake up guys & shake away that gallon of lager you consumed last night........ ).
b) Dover Athletic. Joined July 2011. In 2011/2012 played 7 games ( regular from 23 August 2011 - 24 September 2011, then off injured ). Doesn't appear to have featured since then.
c) Dover 2012 - 2013. No information ( might not have played at all ).
So there you are, has come to us for fitness & to get games & can see why from the above. Dover forum is enigmatic - one or two comments just pleased to see him going for fitness reasons......
Wait and see, but certainly looks the part..............

After watching yesterday @ The Gallagher can only say that Steven looks a really good & assured player - several levels above what we have at present.
Shock horror, he wants to play the ball out along the ground to Maidstone players !!

Bloody fantastic player who read the game ever so well and seemed assured in the heart of defence, i was also surprised he had a bit of pace as well, if we can keep him until the end of the season i cant see us conceding many, all we need know is to score

Watts looked very assured and covered everything al game. Good to see him chatting to the other defenders to get them organized as well, just what we need.
Hopefully we can keep him for more than a month. Even if Humph's does come back by then he's gonna need a few games to get match fit. Can't afford a passenger in the middle of defence even if he is good when fit.
