Pat, I take your point. However look back to the 2007 - 8 Season in the Ryman Prem. Stones were at Heybridge Swifts ( in the fair and beautiful county of Essex ) in December 2007 and Pat Mullin "injured" himself in the Warm Up. No reserve keeper was available, so Lee Shearer went in goal for the game. Shears did a great job, but we lost 2 - 1 and I think the winning Swifts goal was a low shot that Lee couldn't get down to .............. Sure in 2007/08 the club was probably a shower of **** compared to where we are now, but any loss this year because of an unforseen keeper injury in the same circumstances as at Heybridge is not acceptable at all. Can you imagine finishing 2nd this year and having a playoff game against Hythe Town ?? Yes I was there, it was worse than that tho' Pat was already hurt but thought it would be ok, the management only found out when they got to the ground! Mind you Shearer was a legend! Thanks for clarifying that Tim, clearly the porkystone memory is fading a bit. Also real world time pressures ( work & stuff ) stopped me from deploying & investigating the full online & paper back up of the porky archives............

Whilst an experienced gk is not a bad thing, it seems strange that it's a gk that "ZFC" displaced when he was 16-17

Slightly off topic, the thing one irrelevant thing that sticks in the mind for me was at Slade Green and the guy in the purple range rover who decided to watch from that. Subsequently getting annoyed as more and more stones supporters went to stand in front of him, attracted by his horn.
That and the yokel who barged into the press bit at Deal Town, stole the tannoy and belted out a "owner of t'blue bmw blocking my drive, if y' dunt move yer car ill immobilise it for yer". I still wonder about that, surely if he immobilised it it'd be harder to move? Thus blocking the drive longer? Silly yokel.
Don't ask me about the games, yet I remember stuff like that!

If he's over 4 foot tall I'd tend a agree, Porky! From memory he played for Chatham in friendly against us at the start of last season. If its the same guy I'm thinking of, he's not particularly tall for a keeper! Not particularly tall is being polite Pete............. Put me in mind of Steve Northwood seeing him at the Gallagher today.
