The Telegraph has had issues around a takeover bid involving a foreign consortium. Isn't there a law being proposed to stop it.
The takeover collapsed though. Has a takeover bid collapsed for us?

Very close Adrian but not quite there. We changed our structure by transferring to a new holding company

Too technical an answer - It has nothing to do with the structure of both present ownerships or that of the future prospective owners.
More general answer that will win the first beer.
Take note of the environment both organisations have been operating in terms of their ownership these last 18 months.

Take note of the environment both organisations have been operating in terms of their ownership these last 18 months. They both want to get rid of the 'thing' (paper/club), but can't find any buyers? But I guess it can't be that simple... Maybe they both have big, useless lumps up front and a mad Frenchman at the back?

Not that simple - Only the Stones have a problem up front.
Most organisations have mad Frenchmen impacting them.
