That sounds like an injection of good sense, though I’ll miss hearing the names of teams around Europe that I’d never heard of before.

The battle was due to resume on August 1 but with my disabled benefits under real threat and the possibility of future eviction from Swordy Towers I have come to the decision that I cannot justify gambling money that I may need to survive and my £200 pot will now become my emergency fund. Should things change I will re-evaluate the situation but for now Season 3 is indefinitely suspended. I hope the eviction threat never materialises

I hope the eviction threat never materialises If I can beat the bookies with the odds stacked against me then I'll beat the DWP . I have already consulted friends in the legal profession but I cannot act until the DWP make the first official move. I'm very good when my back is against the wall and have friends that will fight tooth and nail for me. I will prevail it will just take time and effort.

I have heard today that my housing benefit and tenancy of Swordy Towers are assured and virtually set in stone for the rest of my life which is a huge relief. I have also been told that as I was awarded Personal Independence Payment for 5 years they cannot legally stop it until my next review in 28 months time though I am somewhat sceptical on this point . I have therefore decided to set season 3 in motion with my eyes firmly fixed on my rear view mirror for possible knives in my back. A quick reminder of my rules. I start with my pot of £200 and attempt to reach my target of £500 profit. This used to be reasonably easy to attain but in the last few years has become much more difficult and though I have still made very moderate profits I have got nowhere near my target. My maximum stake is usually £5 and its very rarely I exceed that. I also know,as should you, that betting, especially on football,is a mugs game and losses can and indeed have mounted up very quickly which is why I have set a £200 stop/loss,should I lose my initial pot then I will declare the bookies the winners and season 3 will be over.Let battle commence.

Well here we go then first bets of the season and looking at my records I haven't won with the first bet in 10 years so it's about time that changed. First week is always luck as there is no form to choose from. Anyway GAME ON!
LINE 1:Wins for Birmingham Stevenage Doncaster Oldham Torquay £5 5fold pays about 6/1
LINE 2 : Wins for Whitby Harborough Gosport Folkestone Wingate & Finchley £3 5fold pays 33/1

At one stage it was all looking good but then they began to tumble one after another. Line 2 was a disaster but 4 out of 5 on line 1 qualifies for a free £5 bet so not a complete waste of time. Swordy £0 v Bookies £8

GGGGGGOOOOOOOLLLLLLLDDDDDD Well it needed 2 VAR decisions against Le Harvre and PSG scoring 3 in 4 minutes to win 4-1 plus a 97th minute winner for Coventry after Oxford's keeper looked like getting a Motm award. And so I strike gold to the tune of £50.82 and there's just enough in last seasons penny pot to make it up to £51. So early scores on the doors read Swordy £43 v Bookies £0.
