And what about replays against Charlton?

My first ever game was the first replay against the Gills - bloody long, freezing cold, very little of interest and NO goals. How the hell I ever became a Maidstone fan after that, I really don't know!
So it's not always 'the magic of the Cup', it can be a complete drag. And, although we eventually beat Gillingham, generally lower-league sides bringing the bigger club back for replay lose. So, just how enjoyable is that?

And what about replays against Charlton? Replays? It was just the one. Great night, even if we did lose

I have a simple solution. Leave the FA Cup as it is, but exclude any team playing that season in Europe; then they needn’t worry about fixture congestion, which is the reason for the FA’s move. It’s what ManU did a few seasons ago.

The solution? There’s no need for a solution: Pep said it was unacceptable to ask those players to play yet he still did. Did he play Oscar Bob, Matthias Nunes, Rufen Dias, Kovacic, Sergio Gomes…an out £200m of talent? Nope, he played his full team, he put his success above the welfare of his players.
Tell Pep that next season it’ll be just as bad if they are in every tournament. It’s kind of why it’s so hard to win everything. Most teams don’t have to put up with it. But tell Pep to accept it and to build a squad with his billions, capable of being rotated properly to deal with it. Might have to sacrifice a few stars to bring in some better depth (I mean they’ve got more depth than anyone but he is still complaining).
Basically do your job properly Pep.

It’s what ManU did a few seasons ago. I’d go further. Let the big clubs have their super league and then treat it exactly like cricket treated Packer, including excluding super league players from the England squad.

Seriously, who ARE these people?!
They’re saying the exact opposite of what their member clubs are saying…presumably money’s changing hands and being pugged away by the same lot that took the lion’s share of the Covid relief funds

Now we know why the National League is backing the Premier League in getting rid of replays
