Some supporters will naturally believe that everything is going to plan and there's an abundance of talented players that the club will announce very soon that they have signed. The reality is different. Terry Casey has made it obvious that players are wanting to be paid more than the club can afford. Whatever people hope for in terms of the squad, George is finding it hard going.

If only saying "it will be fine" meant the problem was sorted.
The squad build has a way to go yet.

Terry Casey has said we are not one of the big money clubs even in the NLS but we are probably around 6th place in terms of the playing budget. Problem for George is he cannot afford to recruit players of average quality who can just hold their own. Promotion and nothing short is the club's aim. Not all but def most of the players signed up fit the bill, but we are lacking in numbers. At the moment we are well away from a striking force that will be bulging onion bags. To believe different is just delusional. As for a keeper, let alone two of them, thats looking to be a problem too. Short !

Surely George is going to call "TIME" very soon on members of last season's squad who havn't accepted the offer of new contracts.
Maybe its time to call on swordy to get these reluctant players sorted.

Surely even at 6th place in NLS playing budget we could have kept players who have gone to so called (by others on the forum) "crap" clubs like Livingston, Morton and Shelbourne? Equally, surely that should be enough budget to attract a good new NLS squad by now, and not be worrying about key positions like goal scorers or goal keepers? The new recruits may be good, they may not be, none of them stand out as sure bets or any better than players we have not retained or couldnt keep from last year. With regards to calling time on those from last year still undecided, I would give both Matt Rush and Lucas Covolan up to 2pm on the day of our first competitive match if it meant we could keep them as they are both quality. However, we do need a GK very shortly ( )and a striker or two signed up (Come on David Bentley!) in case Matt goes to Sutton and Lucas to wherever.

Dont think David Bentley plays any more. Maybe Matt Bentley will re-sign

I just hope George, Bill, etc are reading this.
Without all the people on here pointing out these totally unobvious things, they'd probably never get a decent squad sorted out in time.
Supporters on here might just have saved the club. Well done lads.
Now, perhaps take a hard-earned break? Your job is done.

None of the players he named played in the FA Cup, did they? Were they not cup tied? They may or may not have played at other clubs but it is long established that this is the Maidstone United section of the board. Hence, we are only discussing Maidstone United here. When he spoke of proving themselves it was at Maidstone united. While I appreciate your attempt at pedantry, I'm afraid you must take yourself away and look deep inside to find the better inner person to be a part of this forum. Failure to do so will mean you are a Gillingham fan.
