I'm starting to think that Hak's buys were pretty random - some worked, some didn't, but with no real logic or reason behind them. I thought at the time he had a cunning plan, but now I suspect he just didn't know what he was doing. He was lucky and they clicked as a team in the NS, but in the NL he was shown up for what he was - an IP manager at the best. Despite the slagging George is getting from some people on here, I think he'll turn out to have a much better eye for players and a better network of contacts. Time will tell. A manager is only really as good as his support network in regards of recruitment. It is hard to watch players whilst managing your own team. We can all blame Hak for the recruitment as has been discussed many times but I don't think any manager is this league will have a much better record than "some worked, some didn't". It's the nature of the level. Of course. But it was the next bit of that sentence that was key - "but with no real logic or reason behind them". Hak bought randomly and got lucky. How many of us thought he was NS management championship material after his first two seasons with us? In fact, how many of us thought that after the first few games of 22-23? Remember the Luque sending off and the early 'mid-season' slump? Hpefully, George isn't just buying at random. Early days yet, and I am yet to be convinced by the buys so far, but at least it looks more like he knows what he's doing.
