Impressions:
Looked a much closer game than it sounded on SL.
Two pretty good pen claims not given (but no problem giving them that free kick...).
Without Ellul, we'd be fucked.
Not too impressed with Hadler.
Game could have gone either way.
Despite recent results and position, still think we're in with a good chance of staying up.
What a god-awful, souless place the Hive is.

Looks like a crazy game that could have ended seven all. Denied a couple of moderate penalty appeals, but then so were they and loads of close calls. Overall though both sides are really poor at defending. Arguable that Hadler's positioning at the free kick cost us one goal and Ellul beaten on a bouncing ball (again) resulted in their fourth. Hate mentioning these because I really like both players, but it is what happens when things don't go your way. Hoyte rightly booked for that early tackle, but looked like nasty tactics by Barnet after that to try and get him sent off, especially their player faking it in our area. Somehow, Hak and his team have to stop the rot though. We concede far too easily and it is no good scoring three goals if you let in four and we are averaging nearly three every game. It is now clear than, even if Jerome B-W and Luque were fit, we would still be leaking too many goals. We might score a few more (and be very exciting to watch), but those two key elements (holding midfielder and commanding centre back) that we hoped for at the start of the season are proving to be our biggest problem. Fixing it another matter of course, but until we do, our defence will continue to leak like a sieve. He def should have been booked for that. Where/when were their 'moderate' pen claims?

What a god-awful, souless place the Hive is. I think they looked a more cohesive side in all honesty - moved the ball very well and wanted to push up the pitch with purpose and intent. We were pretty frustrating first half, constantly putting the ball in the air to very little effect. I think a draw would have been a fair result (we hit the woodwork twice!) but in all honesty, I didn't begrudge them the win. Think you're right on almost everything though - Ellul is absolutely paramount to us having a chance of winning football matches, we're absolutely lost without him. Hadler has had his chance and unfortunately not taken it, with a couple of obvious 'gaffs'. The Hive is completely void of anything resembling a soul, at points it felt like we were watching one of the five a side games happening in the pitches behind it. Bar, area, atmosphere, design, everything: awful. Happy we don't watch football there every week.

Also, do the teenagers who come along and act the hard man know how stupid they look sometimes?? When they were at the barrier trying to goad their keeper and then giving it the Charlie big potatoes to about 3 kids from Barnet, my toes were curled and my second hand embarrassment was well and truly triggered. They just look like absolute wet wipes, I don't get it?

True BUT I am guessing the critics are well over 21. Its what at some teenagers do for fun. You are not meant to understand it. Of course its pathetic bahaviour viewed through supporters of more mature years and attitudes.

Of course its pathetic bahaviour viewed through supporters of more mature years and attitudes. I think I DO understand it though, but it's more how THEY aren't standing there going 'God, this is a bit weird, isn't it, pretending we're going to fight a goalkeeper on a Tuesday night in Barnet'. You're probably right in the sense that you become more conscious of yourself as you get older but watching them on Tuesday, it just blew my mind.

WELL over 21! More than three times, in fact... Hatrick of 21's - with that kind of form, you'd warrant a place in the starting line up vs Halifax.
