No it isn't,time wasting and cheating is ruining the game and what's more is that football coaches the length and breath of the country are actually teaching and encouraging it. I would go one step further by fining and docking points from clubs that cannot control their players actions,it's the only way to eliminate it from the game. I'm all in favour of retrospective red cards but posthumous strikes me as a bit medieval. Yeah, wrong word sorry, but I think you know what I meant.

Dave U -
I don't think it's a problem for genuinely injured players for the reasons I gave. If you really need a check-up then continuing it on the sidelines where a less pressured assessment can be made seems reasonable. .
It's highly unlikely more than one player would be off at a time. By the time the physio has dealt with the second genuine injury - and can you remember the last time you saw two genuine injuries in such close succession? - the three minutes would almost be up for the first player.

I quite like the idea. Can’t really see any drawbacks. I’d like to see the stats around ball in play times as I suppose you might get a game lasting very long

Sounds like the kind of thing they should trial, maybe in the top division of non league before rolling out to the EFL and PL.

But would it make it harder for the Main Standees to know when to leave early? They might go when they see there's only ten minutes left, but end up missing the last 20 minutes!

PS - I've suddenly started to get random 'virus' warnings on this board - anyone else having the same problem?
