It has been brought to my attention that there is a wild rumour afoot that Hak is about to be replaced by Peter Taylor. I dont for one minute believe it but does anyone have any insight to this rumour?

Did you get this rumour from the parrot?
I wouldn't trust him, he'll repeat any old rubbish.

Given the disaster that was the sacking of Jay Saunders, they would be mad to replace a manager who has put together a team that’s got 10 points from the first four games. But in football, who knows?

I think I probably heard the rumour before you swordy. I'm sure it is just wishful thinking by a couple of supporters who are putting it about and pushing an anti Hak agenda. Just rubbish, sleep well. Btw the rumour is featured on the Stones Facebook Group where Hak is rightly getting plenty of support.

As to whether "in Hak we trust"; I have to say I was quite nervous when John Still stepped back as Hak's decisions and interviews at the time made no sense to me. However recently, (speaking authoritatively as someone who has seen the sum total of one Stones game in the the last 2 years!) I thought the subs on Saturday were spot on. For those that want Pavey to start, I would suggest that maybe Hak knows at this stage Alfie does not have 90 minutes in him - when do want 30 minutes of impact? I'd take the last 30 any time. As I said on the other thread Phillips for Luque made perfect sense vs Rickay. Hak's post match interviews now seem right on the button to me too. Maybe in that early phase in sole control he was lacking confidence, but I now feel quite confident we have the first proper manager since .... erm no I'm not going to say it.

As someone suggesting Pavey should start v H&R, can't help wondering if he had come on as sub again, would have buried the late chance missed by Pattinson. Ho hum...

I guess you have to be in the right places and it doesn't feel Alfie is getting into those at the moment. I was saying yesterday that I prefer to start Pavey, and if he doesn't work out we bring on Pattinson for that injection of pace in the last 30. I don't think we're using Pavey correctly at the moment - he needs to just sit in the box and put himself about a bit from wide balls, but we seem pretty adamant on playing it to his feet / playing it long with his back to goal. Would rather our wingers and full backs were pushing up the pitch and supplying the ball to him.

I'm guessing a few of us had the same thoughts. The fact is Alfie Pavey is a proven goal scorer at this level whereas Pattinson still has it to prove. But is Alfie ready for 90 minutes ? But we cannot get into the business of using his as an impact sub, he is too good for that. Still early doors, but it does feel like we are not playing to his strong points at the moment.

Wasn't this rumour started by a notorious f**king idiot whose dislike of Hak is based on primitive xenophobia and who was previously banned for fighting at Dover? Or have I got that wrong?

Oliver, Terry and Bill are brilliant at what they do. As if they would sack a manager who has won ten points from his first four games, to bring in Peter Taylor! Clearly someone making mischief.

They did sack Saunders... But, leaving all that nonsense to one-side, I am a bit worried about our ability to convert possession and chances into goals. The first home game was brilliant, and coming back with two goals at a difficult away game equally impressive. But since then, we have only scored once from open play in two games. What's happened to take us from free-scoring to having to rely on a pen to beat a crap side like Ricay? Very early days, of course, but we've all watched football long enough to know a side that scores at will from one that doesn't. Compare and contrast with Darts and Fleet... From what we've seen so far, we could easily be in contention by the end of the season, and goal difference could be vital.

They sacked him because his record in the last months of his time as a manager was very poor. Honestly, it's about time people got over that. If we'd started his last season with ten points from four games it wouldn't have happened, would it? A major difference is that Hak has brought in some very effective players, on a relatively tight budget. Jay paid the price for, as Plastic Passion put it at the time, 'shopping in Primark' and turning up some real duds. Anyhow, let's not get into that stuff again, there have been reams of threads about it in the past, it will suffice to say that was a very different situation to what we have now. Basically, this time, we're doing alright!

Basically, this time, we're doing alright! The major difference was that Saunders didn't have the respect, control and resources that Hak has. He paid the price for something that was a long way from being all his fault. Not having a go at Bill, Terry and Oliver, but those are the facts.

With respect jdl, they are not the facts, it is what you choose to beieve. Your view of matters long ago is over simplistic and does not represent the whole of what transpired. There is very probably some truth to what you say but there are definitely other truths.
