How about pushing for away teams to be allowed to do their own live streaming - or least least a 'radio' commentary? Other team's efforts have been pathetic thus far and why should we pay them when most have already done very nicely from the grants?

I was all about giving clubs the benefit of the doubt but some of the streams have been shocking. If you are taking people's money you should employ media professionals and not just get some volunteer teenager to have a go. :-) Maybe Goochy could run a training course?

Can anybody explain to me or at least clarify what Oliver said about our non-contracted players
I got the impression that we have some players who are not being paid anything but play just to be as Oliver put it 'in the shop window'.
It seems that we have some good talent in the squad but either they are just on match to match wages or even no wages at all.
I admit I may have misheard or misunderstood (I hope I did).
But if the situation is anything like I thought I heard, then any good looking non-contracted player is likely to be snapped up by one of those clubs who have received their £££££££ bail out from the National League.
Which puts a bit of a damp squib on our hopes and dreams

I think you mean a damp squib (a kind of firework). You'd expect a squid to be damp, whereas a damp squib is a metaphor for disappointment.

Whatever daveu, I think you get the drift, but can you translate what Oliver was saying ?

Ok, ok but if dave hasn't got anything useful to say, perhaps somebody else can help ? Maybe ?

Whatever daveu, I think you get the drift, but can you translate what Oliver was saying ? I dont think anyone on here could really tell you unless they knew the exact details of the players contracts. Some players maybe on short term contracts others on long term contracts, some may get the same weekly wage throughout the season, some may get a lower weekly wage and then an appearance fee, some may even be playing for just expenses we just don't know, some maybe on contract but not being paid and have a release cause in their contract if a team at a higher level offer them something. Sports contracts can include all kinds of weird things and be set in ways which a standard office worker or tradesman contract works. You may have heard some big name players signings delayed due to an issue with "image rights" this is where the player gets a certain about of the money from shirt/merchandise sales. There are too many variables and intangibles that can't be answered hence why Dave couldn't answer your original question and neither would anyone else on here as we just won't know.

The Stones are run as a sustainable business and if a business is not earning enough revenue to pay its staff then employees have to be let go.
If the club is run sensibly this year we will be in a stronger position than many clubs next season.
The initial idea was to use some of our U23s..

Fair points but the original idea of using U23s seems to have gone out of the window
I guess the worry is that this is as good as it gets and we could be losing some of our best players over the next few months.
There's a happy thought, I'm surprised swordy didn't think of it first !
