Quite an ' interesting ' way of motivating guys who will still be in and around the team ?

Can’t argue with any of them. Allen I’ve not seen enough of game time wise to make a solid judgement, but if we can bring some decent quality/experience in it will only help.
Hopefully it’s a kick up the arse some need

Quite an ' interesting ' way of motivating guys who will still be in and around the team ? In fairness it worked for Wishart, who was a professional about it

Brutal. I like it, but I don't like it.

Slightly surprised at Clovis because he has, I think, been in the team for pretty much the last month or so.
The others have been in and out but have some potential with the exception of one, who I don't think is quite good enough in his all round game for this level.

Harsh but realistic decision. Clovis has only played so much recently because we are short of Central Midfield players, he was awful again on Saturday.

Clovis has proved to be decent at breaking up opposing attacks and does best in muck and bullets defensive situations. As evidenced on Saturday, he offers little creatively going forwards, so needs someone like Corne alongside. Suspect the others aren't quite up to it. May have enough talent, but don't/can't apply it consistently enough. Trouble is, where do their replacements come from? Are we going back into the merry-go-round of short term loans again? Seem to remember it didn't exactly work out too well last season and the squad isn't exactly that strong either. Embury and Amaluzor nowhere near 100% yet either, so options a bit thin. Perhaps, as others are suggesting, management are applying Wishart type motivation?

Brutal. I like it, but I don't like it. I agree. The key thing is that this is fine only if John and Hak have better players than these already lined up, as not all of these will react like Wish and be determined to make their mark, but may well just look for a quick exit if they feel unwanted. I would keep Knight over Pennell (who surely should be on this list?) as back up for George and Ryan, and although I prefer watching Akanbi, surely we must have another good forward in our sights before losing Edwards, who is a trier and can be quite good? Clovis has overall been disappointing, so not surprised with that one, and Iffy and Nana have also fallen short of expectations, sadly. Lets wait and see who reacts positively and who rushes for the exit door. In John and Hak we trust!

I was surprised at Klovis but then again, I was expecting more from him. He is doing ok but I was expecting him to dominate games. I think we will see someone excellent coming in to replace him.
Nana has something but is so inconsistent.
Iffy Allen looked great in pre-season but flatters to deceive. Luxury player.
Jonny Edwards, I would say is a hard worker but not going to score enough goals.
Knight, we didn’t see much of. I guess Pennell is known by JS so he knows that he can offer. Knight said he was off a few weeks ago so not a surprise.
My main opinion is that these are 5 of the higher earners in the squad and we will bring in 3 or 4 new faces. Probably already have them earmarked.
The McClure signing was probably made and then extended with the agreement that the managers would make some savings down the line.

Well 5 players transfer listed has come as a bit of a shock, but more about the actual number rather than the need for some tweaking. I think all the players are on contract till the end of the season. Only real disappointment on the list for me was Clovis, but wonder if John/Hakan are looking for a positive response from him to up his game.

Agreed, Clovis has been excellent a few times (absolutely immense against Dulwich) and decent most of the rest, with maybe only a couple of poor games. I think with him it might be a case of motivation to reach excellent more often. Also, quite surprised about Edwards, I've like what I've seen when he's played but maybe Ibby gives us more.

I'm a bit surprised.
Haven't seen a lot of Knight but he was very poor at Dorking and substituted at half time but Pennell hasn't impressed either (with more opportunities) and if Johnson or Elokobi get injured we could have limited options at the back.
The others on the list have all been inconsistent but all have different qualities. Kamdjo can break up opposition play but his passing has been far to wayward lately to justify automatic selection. Edwards can hold the ball up well and bring others in to play but has been injury prone and Akanbi and McClure have been superb so Jonny would not be an automatic starter. Allen looks like the type of player with a few tricks in his bag who tries to get the ball down and play and create something, an ideal player to have on the bench when struggling to unlock a defence.
Can only assume that some of these players are on to good a wage to justify as being 'squad players'.
Maybe there's pressure from the owners to cut the wage bill or perhaps John and Hak are looking to free up some money to bring others in or maybe they're trying to motivate the players, more likely a combination of the three.

It maybe just a budget cutting exercise as our gates have not risen as much as some would like though I still believe if we can get in the top 3 they will sail past 2000 again. I would personally hang onto Klovis but I pretty much agree with the others. It's interesting to see that most of you think this is a prelude to new signings ,their departures would bring the squad down to 18,I think,so maybe they have decided that is sufficient and let's face it it should be as it must grate in the minds of the owners seeing 11 or 12 highly paid players doing nothing but training.

I might agree with the squad of 18 being sufficient but those released, apart from Allen and Knight, have all played too many games to just drop out without replacing in my opinion. Kamjo was an early signing and came with some pedigree. I reckon he is on good money and I suspect they have a replacement in mind.
