When Manchester Utd opted out of the FA Cup yonks ago to take part in the World Club Championship, there was a lucky loser drawn from the teams who had lost their 2nd round proper tie to fill the place. Seems a better idea to me than a smaller club receiving no gate receipts and potentially tv money too. Up to the 4th qualifying round there has been a cash prize for the losing club, it's money for winners only from the 1st round proper so it's not as if the club missing a game will pick up 50% more in prize money either. Is that a new way of doing it? i guess the theory is that if you’ve made it to the first round you’ve already won £19k I have decided what I want to happen... win today (obviously), first round bye, second round shock against a league team on TV, third round away to Manchester United (for the cash)

We're at Oxford City v Margate, the usual total lack of atmosphere at Marsh Lane. City one up, Margate failed to clear a corner and paid the price. Quickly 2-0. Margate not very good but have one really loud young supporter, quite amusing.

Poor showing so far. Not even tested their keeper.
They certainly have had the better play in the final third

A game of two halves...
And is it Wis-heart or Wish-heart??

Apart from some good finishing and a penalty, we were once again mediocre at best today. KIngs Langley are a very good side for that league and will feel aggrieved to come away losing 4-1. Referee had a very good game, and had no option but to send the two players off.

These 4 goal wins are getting a bit tedious now though...

Another 4 goals so why don't I feel good about the performance ? Hard to forget such a poor first half effort. Well the result is everything, but we were not 3 goals better and for too often in the middle of the park we were second best again. We will need to play a lot better against our next opponents in the cup whoever they are.

Think he lost it towards the end.
Not sufficient time wasting for 6 minutes added in the second half. Marshall reaction was a clear red but didn't see what their player did - happy to take other people's view as it was a long way for my old eyes
Seemed no communication between assistant and referee on riverside when Khan got fouled, assistant waves flag, ball goes out of play and their player then violently shoves Khan into fence. Looked violent conduct to us and should have been a red. Somewhat bemused by yellow card and just a throw to us. Assistant just watched and said nothing.
Not that it matters but was it a penalty for them? Cole clearly thought he took the ball as did we.

Referee had a very good game, and had no option but to send the two players off. Not sure why he sent Marshall off, certainly couldn't see what he did wrong other than stand up to their player. Other than that, I'm not sure how you think he had a good game. Denied us a stonewall penalty first half, and gave them one at the end that was never a penalty in a million years. In between showed a lack of consistency, constantly fell for their time wasting tactics in the first half. A decent ref would have booked their keeper for feigning injury. As for the game, very poor first half, but second half did what was needed without really getting out of second gear. To score four without playing well is always good and we do seem to have that ability. Need Corne back in the middle of the park or sign a creative midfielder, but while it isn't pretty at the moment I don't think we're far off being a decent side, and should be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

I’m aghast why Marshall was sent off. All I saw was a side swing from their player sent off

Another match in which lower league opponents dominate midfield but fortunately for us fail to create chances although they did have a goal disallowed for offside when still 0-0. Disappointed in Amaluzor who offered nothing and looks disinterested.
Both Penalties were poor decisions, Edwardes appeared (to me) to dive & Cole got the ball not the player.
Crucially we are in the next round.

Jesus Christ we won and won well in the second half! Who cares we were poor first half, at least we didn’t let a goal in. Shame on the ref for Marshall getting sent off! He at best pushed the guy and I heard the slap from the clear punch He got in the face! That should bring a charge by the old bill let alone a ban from football. Looking forward the the replay of that! Scum away in the next round please

The result is everything but performance is lacking quality in midfield. Khan and Amaluzor are decent players but just seem a shade lightweight for an NLS team aiming for play-offs. Sam Corne can't come back too soon but another quality player needed in the middle please JS.
