Since 2014 has played for Peterborough ( briefly ), St Albans, Accrington Stanley, Woking & Halifax. Listed as a midfielder, for Halifax in 2018 / 19 started 16 games + a further 17 off the bench & scored 3 goals. Born in Luton ( so moving to MUFC almost like coming home … ).

Looks like Halifax fans are glad he is going judging by the comments on their forum.

3 goals all season is not overwhelming!! Halifax couldn’t score for toffee last season until they came to us! Let’s hope he does the job in the National South, JS2 appears to have been after him for a while so I will trust his judgement. With an average of 50/50 success rate on signings until last season we will get one or two wrong. Good luck to him

Perhaps a little underwhelming when you look at statistics but if John Still sees something in Jonathan then fair enough. Has it all to prove and even JS admits he likes a bit of a gamble sometimes. But Jonathan Edwards is young, hungry and works hard so good luck and welcome to the Stones.

I personally do not give a toss what he has achieved in the past seasons with other clubs, all I,m bothered about is what he can achieve while he,s at our club, so good luck Jon.

JS must have really wanted to sign him. Halifax saying they sold him for an undisclosed fee

Mate of mine is a Halifax watcher (he is from down South but watches them as he lives there).
Says Edwards is a trier but could not hit a barn door. Also thinks he would do well at a lower level. Does work hard.
Also said they have less than 11 players signed on and have the same discussions we do about the state of their squad.

If my faded memory serves me wrong, I do believe Jonathan Edwards still holds the world's record for triple jump in athletics

But why is Yoda posting on this forum? Imagine if we could secure Yoda as manager, no need to panic there over transfers or tactics......

Didn’t we have a trier up front last season that couldn’t hit a barn door? Went to Eastbourne Borough!! Saying that though if Young Edwards is partnered with the correct player like a “finisher” a good balance can be reached. Question has to be does JS2 already have that player or is he still trying to sign them 🤔

Good to see we have signed a striker who 'couldn't hit a barn door'. At least we have learnt the lessons from last season where proven goalscorers like Robinson and Romain proved to be useless in black and amber. Welcome Jon.

I suppose when on a limited budget if you want a goal scorer you have to pluck one from the level below or the level you have just dropped to as one of the Bigger clubs in that league! Anyone banging them in from higher up will cost loads. Oh what I would give for another season with Collins and May banging them in every week. I’m not advocating bringing those old fellas back, but that kind of partnership of two players playing at their correct level and not costing the Earth. We seem to have a very strong back line and keeper “on paper” let’s hope we will not need to score 5 goals a game to win!
