Got the DVD at the time. It's seen a lot of use recently. Just a shame I can't find the full Stevenage game on youtube any more

The Flish throws! (that's actually quite hard to say) Always puzzles me how a few players can do long throws, but most can't. There appears to be nothing physically that different about Flish, yet he can launch a ball like a mortar, right into the area. Why can't this be taught to other players? Obviously it's more difficult than it seems, otherwise every club would have two or three long-throw specialists - but why? Of course, it could just be all the pies...

Flish is currently in disguise and playing for the Moors. Talking of long throws, and for those that can remember, does anyone think that Ian Hutchinson's long throws were more effective due to the unusual technique he used? I haven't seen anyone else use it since. Sorry this should be in the non Stones section - rebel I am.

Looked good (well, fun, at least), but I don't remember it being any more effective than the normal approach. If Flish, with his (fairly) normal body, can do it, surely anyone can? I am taller than Flish, and have longer arms, and can't even manage throw a ball back to the kids in the park - but I'm sure, with training (and just a smidgen of fitness work), I could manage a decent throw in. The average tall/fit/young footballer should be able to get it half way across the pitch at least.

Ian Hutchinson played for Chelsea in the 70s and was probably the first proponent of the long throw in this country. I don't remember his throws being any more effective than any of the later experts. His technique was to windmill his arms, but since that was after releasing the ball I don't see how it could really have made much difference to the power.

Akin to following through after the stroke in golf, perhaps?

Was there not a player or two at Leeds Utd around the same period as Ian Hutchinson who used to have a deadly long throw.
