Really looking forward to this one, as an away ground I've not been to & one we might not be visiting again in the near future. Cheap rail Kings X - Leeds is still available for the day trip, but selling out quickly. For Leeds - Harrogate, this could be a problem if Northern Rail are still f**king around. So the best option for this leg seems to be No. 36 bus, from Leeds Bus Station to Harrogate / Ripon - getting off @ Oatlands. Ground then walkable from there ( it is South East of Harrogate Centre ). Obviously you need to plan your train times to allow for this extra time spent on't bus. Pubs near the ground such as Woodlands ( 110 Wetherby Road gastroranking.co.uk/r/the-woodlands-pub-and-grill_75416/ ) & Empress ( Church Square www.theempressharrogate.co.uk/index ) are 'sort of' recommended per the FGG.

I was hoping this one would be on a school holiday so we could make a long weekend of it. In my West Ham days, when we played Leeds away, we used to base ourselves in Haworth - home of the Bronte sisters, but also a really nice village.
Harrogate is a bit further than Leeds, but there's not much in it (by car, obviously). For train buffs, there's also Keighley nearby for the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway - one of the best preserved lines. There's also Leeds itself - "excellent shops", according to the 'ladies' in our group.
All in all, my favourite away trip in those days. We even won once as well!
And another reason for staying in this league!!

I've caught that bus. Think upmarket version of the 101.

If you have time I recommend Ripon castle and gardens or the Mercer art gallery,As for pubs I think I have been to at least 20 in the town and I don't remember a bad one amongst them.😁

We have them down here too, so I don't quite see how that makes them 'posh'... Because up there in North Yorkshire grammar is someone who sits and knits all day and bakes lovely cakes and gives you all kinds of nice things when mummy and daddy arent looking whereas down her grammar is a school for annoying stuck-up little shits who need a good slapping .

I want to "Like" this post, Sword, but I am one of those annoying little shits (if not stuck up), so don't feel able to. But at least you know how to spell "grammar"!
Oh, l think that does make me stuck up after all.....

I can say hand on heart that Northern Rail are a complete bag of you know what with their services at weekends at the moment. The bus option is a good one and the route isn't terribly busy once clear of the ring road to the North. Relatively comfortable for a service bus too.
If you're driving up, Harrogate does have a record for fairly aggressive approach to issuing parking tickets.

BUMP !
Still looking forward to this ( heavy dose of irony ) . Trains seem OK all the way, best option seems to be to explore one or two of Harrogate's fine selection of pubs before the game to provide a gentle anaesthetic....

Could be the game we go down too. Although, with Boring's current inability to win, it will probably drag out for another week.

You can see how good Harrogate are tonight, as their game vs Salford is on the BT Sport Service.

For anyone getting the train from Kings X to Leeds, be advised that the train company is operating dry trains on Saturday (no alcohol to be consumed on board) due to Millwall visiting Leeds on the same day
