So the club have defiantly run out of money then... Looks like it. Having said that, I would like to add that I am not making a judgement on Jamie Philpot's ability, as I am definitely not qualified to do so by any stretch of the imagination, he could, after all develop into the next Pigott. Welcome to the Stones Jamie.

The mantra has always been one out one in, even under Wheeler. There never was any new money and there never will be. It has always been understood that Maidstone United lives within its means, even if that means relegation. Splash the cash and speculate to accumulate are policies of other clubs. Relegation is better than bankruptcy.

Nick your almost 100% right but your wrong when you claim that all the mess we are in now is wholly down to Wheeler, sadly the responsibility for this situation is shared between Saunders Wheeler an the board, we as fans are the ones who suffer but thats football I guess. On a lighter note lets hope this new striker turns out to be a massive hit an scores loads for us. And you accuse me of not being able to let it go. What on earth has got your knickers in a twist Doris? I wasn,t even talking to you I merely made a comment to Nick stating that this whole situation is down to more than just Wheeler, I infact lay the blame at Saunders Wheeler and the Board so cannot understand what your problem is.

Ha! The last resort of those who've been shown up is to start throwing insults. You whine like a jilted woman whenever I mention our former manager, maybe you need to follow your own advice. For your information, this mess is entirely down to HW, only one player from the former regime started today, how is that anyone else's fault.

Dave i agree with jakeyboi, we are in a mess and the blame is on the owners jay Saunders and Harry wheeler. The messing about in the summer with the possibility of jay going to Macclesfield cost us over a month for recruitment, all the better players were being snapped up and we left it too late to recruit a squad capable of competing at this level, this was down to jay and the owners. Wheeler came in and rightly highlighted the issue with some of the players and had to change them around but the manner in which he went around this caused a toxic environment which resulted in him being shown the door. I am a fan of Jay and think what he achieved in getting us to the national league was a terrific achievement, but i think that this league was a step to far for him. Jay was also a man of the fans and would talk to the fans and was always approachable to talk to so i fully understand the connection other fans on this board have for him however i think that we did need a change and that the time was right to move on.

Agreed. On today's showing, a decent striker, aka Turgott would have won us the game. We don't have one, so we lost, as we have so many other games. You just have to wonder how we can win six away games, yet lose so often at one of the nicest non league grounds in the country. Crowd nowhere near as lively these days and nobody expects to win any more. Even one home win would make such a difference, but where on earth is it coming from?

Because David the problems were there long before Wheeler took over hence why I said there was more than one person to blame, never mind you keep your beliefs an I,ll keep mine, but you of course will always believe that your right.

David I was posting in response to Nicks comment and you decided that because I mentioned Saunders name you will try an turn it upside down an make a massive mountain out of the little mole-hill. I do not have to explain myself to you or anyone, dont like what I post then dont bloody read them. I bet you can start an argument in your sleep.

Jilted person, David.
And anyway, there were no "problems" (plural), there was, and is, just one problem - we cannot afford to do well in this league. Unless we can get the money to buy success from somewhere, or we're lucky and get ourselves a brilliant manager (and they are as rare as hens' teeth), we will always be bridesmaids at this level, never the bride (or groom).
Jay did very well the first season, struggled (but succeeded) the 2nd, and looked a bit lost the 3rd (possibly not entirely his own doing). I suspect that is a fairly normal pattern for clubs of our limited resources at this level.

No atmosphere at the ground today. Was so quiet in the Genco end. Everyone has given up this season and just want this season to end. There is no structure at the club anymore. Bring on next season where hopefully we get some more wins. Can’t be as bad as this as this season can it?
