Think there's a world of difference between running out of money - wages being paid late, or not paid at all etc - and not taking on additional spending unwisely.
Before I get slated for using "unwisely" I'm not 100% sure its what I wanted to use but couldn't immediately come up with something more appropriate.
Welcome to my world! Thank you but I shall remain in a world of my own.

Maybe we should give him a chance.

Maybe we should give him a chance. We did in pre season, Jay didn't think he was good enough.

If we could cut Jamie Philpot some slack before we bury him it might be nice.
It seems he scored 5 goals for a NL side last year, including 2 against EFL opposition and 3 consecutive NL games (nice if we could do that more often). He scored 3 for the Darts this season too. Maybe not prolific, playing in the right team who knows.
Welcome Jamie! Meanwhile, in other news : - Rumours that Mo Salah was available on a free transfer with wages covered until the end of the season, conditional on him being allowed to play on an artificial surface in Kent proved to be unfounded.
- The Darts just signed some fellah called Judas Healy, I wonder if he's any good.

I reckon Judas Healy was alright when he played for us. Why he signed for Dover when he should have come to control our National League debut I don't know. My girls cried when he didn't come back. Meanwhile: Philpot ... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Philpot

Sadly it is all about money. We almost certainly could have signed Shields by all accounts, but went for a cheaper and less productive option. We could also have signed Cassidy (and probably still could) but have again gone for a cheaper and modest alternative. Sadly this spells out to me that the owners feel that have spent all they are able to this season. This is not a moan, they know better than us the state of the club finances. But relegation beckons even more strongly. We know where the fault lies (HW). No point in 'crying over spilt milk'. What is done is done. Just need to get through this season now. Terry and Oliver deserve our support as do Tristan and Simon.

Nick your almost 100% right but your wrong when you claim that all the mess we are in now is wholly down to Wheeler, sadly the responsibility for this situation is shared between Saunders Wheeler an the board, we as fans are the ones who suffer but thats football I guess. On a lighter note lets hope this new striker turns out to be a massive hit an scores loads for us.

Why does all the fault lie with Harry Wheeler? He attended a job interview, laid out his plans, was given the job and did exactly what he promised. If he had pulled it off, we would all be hailing him as a genius. Every signing and every player moved on, was done with the active support of the owners. This is what they wanted and they got it. They set the budgets, employ the staff and set the tone. This is not a criticism, they obviously thought they were doing the best for the club they own and love. But they bear ultimate responsibility for the fate of Maidstone United.

Fair enough the owners appointed and supported Harry Wheeler who well and truly shafted the club. Terry and Oliver got it wrong. But do you not think they feel the pain as much as we supporters ? Just saying the owners have been great for the Stones overall and we just have to accept the rough along with the smooth. In the meantime fans carry on as before, moaning a fair bit as we do, but hopefully still giving 100% backing to the team and the club.

Absolutely. I hope the owners are around for a long time. Like us, a little wiser about the benefits of long term planning and gentle change, when needed.

He'll be a good partner for our other NS striker... He might look quite good compared to our new Bostik striker. It's funny, some on here have a go at us for putting down these players but we did it in the summer when it was blatantly obvious Jay's signings wouldn't be any good and we were proved right. As Hammerstone said, statistics don't usually lie. You don't need to have the intelligence of a brain surgeon to know that a player who hasn't scored goals at levels below ours isn't going to score goals AT our level. There is also plenty of info out there on fans forums etc. to tell you what players are like. Mullings and Quigley looked awful signings - there wasn't a scrap of anything on the internet to suggest they'd be any good, and they weren't. Clearly we have no money, that's the truth of it.

I would like to see Jack Richards given an extended run in the team before we go playing strikers that may or may not be any good. If there is one player in our squad who cannot be blamed for our league position it is Jack and who knows he could turn out to be the link we have been missing all season but we won't know with his arse stuck on the bench.
