That's a wonderful conspiracy theory but I think the sadder truth is that the Dealer thought that ripping out the previous squad as quickly as possible and replacing them with short term mercenary loanees would actually work. If it was a conspiracy at least he was successful but I suspect he just tried to play Fantasy Football with a real club and wondered why it didn't work like it did on his PC! Yes, Seth should still be with us and Efete should be in the squad but never mind, lets see what happens with Jamar, Andre and Wynter. And what about Sham? Any others Ive missed in the MUFC Wheeler Dealer Merry Go Round? That's why I'm saying we gotta get a grip of this loanee mess.

Ok, for what it’s worth, here’s how I see it. Before The Dealer came in, most fans were saying that several (or most) of the summer signings were simply not up to it. I happen to agree - they were generally poorer than the players we had let go. So The Dealer did what was needed, in letting several go out on loan or move on to permanent signings at other clubs. You only need to look at where most of them are now - just about all of them at National South clubs - Efete, Loza (although I’d like to see him back with us), Coker, Wynter, Quigley (now on loan at Eastbourne). Some, like Seth, Worgs, Lewis have gone to other National League sides but generally ones that are also struggling and in the case of those three, they did choose to leave (although some will say Seth was somewhat forced out).
Fact is, The Dealer did do what was required although perhaps a bit too quickly and too many at once. Where he failed, was with gelling a team out of the players he brought in (which by and large were upgrades on what we had). Now we have Simon and Tristan in charge, let’s hope they CAN gel the team and get them playing to their undoubted potential. Something which so far looks more than possible, after an encouraging start to their reign !

Don't think you are a million miles away ashstone. Still unsure myself about whether Loza is part of our past or should still be part of our future. But I know there are quite a few supporters who think the old Loza is the new Loza or is it vice-versa ?

Part of the past as what player would want to come back and play his heart out for a club that didn't want him . I know I wouldn't.

My point is that those loaned out by the Dealer may indeed be part of our past and may not be (arguably) as good as players brought in, but its squad cover we need right now and it may be a better idea, when gelling a squad, to bring them back, than try to get more new faces which are on short term loans........also I feel some of those ditched could still have been developed into good players. Just my view.

I think he was jay's worst ever signing and really highlighted his/the club's inability to sign half decent players. He was a real desperation signing (alongside quigley, wynter, mullins...)

It's a dangerous business to say anything positive about the Wheeler Dealer, but tbf he did manage to make some decent signings.

The dealers best signings have all left as they were temps, apart from Simon. The permanent HW ones are ok but no better than Jays signings and the team is still propped up by Jay signings (Turgott, Phillips, WDH, Pax, Muldoon, MacLennan so no, we can’t give the Dealer credit for getting in better players. Romain and Robinson are Lozar and Coker who would drop to NLS if they left and Taksbash is Prestedge. The comparisons go on. But we mustn’t be negative as even if these HW introduced players are no better than what we had before they can still do a job and save us from the drop so let’s get behind them.

Is this a let’s find the good in HW campaign? Come on! He ripped the heart out of the club and nearly destroyed it and we are still suffering from his reign of destruction. Let’s move on!

The only thing these posts contribute to the debate is that how difficult it is to find good players.
I have thought this for over 2 years now that good NL strikers are rare.
We can only improve as a club when we can learn to identify good prospects and improve them.

We can only improve as a club when we can learn to identify good prospects and improve them. We have done that just look at Jack Richards. Two years ago he would just sit on the left hand side of the bench but now he sits on the right, the left and we even tried him in a more central position and he has adapted well to be a complete all round bencher.
