Mind you Jay was a novice when we appointed him

Not convinced about Kinnear. I think a lot of the reason people want him is based on nostalgia rather than any real evidence he would be any better than Jay. After all, he struggled with recruitment at Dover after a big turnover of players in the summer. The similarities between ourselves and Dover are obvious, right up to the point where they replaced him with an experienced manager and we replaced Jay with a novice. Dave's points are very well reflected in this thread from the Dover forum: www.tapatalk.com/groups/doverathletic/c-k-departs-t6852.html

I hope it’s John Still, I really do, with Walton kept on as a player assistant manager who can be developed over the next 18 months

I understand Still has handed over the reins, and is mentoring Currie at Barnet. I get the feeling that Still has had enough of direct coaching. I would love Still to take on a roll at Maidstone, however, what incentive would there be for him to do so, he seems quite happy at Barnet?

Well it's a bigger challenge at the Stones and a no lose situation. With any luck JS will be up for it. Simon and Tristan can still get on with their hands on coaching and motivational stuff under the direction and tactical nous of John Still. Sounds a good outcome to me, just needs the owners to put theory into practice. Fingers crossed.

As I said the other day, there was a lot of speculation and hints on the facebook group, not something I would normally put a lot of credence in, but one poster in particular is someone whose inside knowledge isn't usually too far from the truth.

Any manager who comes in will likely want their own coaching team, not the left overs from a past regime.

Normally true but depends who it is, because if JS turns out to be the man, I can't see him stripping Barnet of their coaching team.

With all due respect to Still, he isn't exactly in his first flush of youth, and is probably looking for something a bit less challenging than sorting us out to ease him into retirement. I also fear that we are clutching at the only straw available, rather than taking a really pragmatic view of this.
I'm afraid the plain fact is that there is only one proven NS/NL manager capable of sorting out the JWW mess available at the moment - and unfortunately he will never be offered the job.
We have well and truly shot ourselves in the foot with this whole episode. This will go down in non-league history as one of the game's great f**k-ups. We had everything and we threw it away.

A friend of mine who is very close to a member of the Braintree board has told me this morning that we have made an approach for their manager Hakan Heyrettin.
I don’t normally take a view on these matters and take a watching brief, but to take from the one team lower than us seems crazy to me!
