I went to the game at a very wet and windy Holker Park this afternoon not expecting much and wasn't disappointed. 1st half, playing with the very strong wind behind, wasn't bad. Barrow probably shaded it. Great double save by Worner and then Jake Robinson with a header was well saved and Cassidy should have put away the rebound but hit the post and probably 1-1 would have been fair. 2nd Half was dire !!! Playing into the wind, that seemed to have got even stronger, Stones spent 30 minutes camped in there own half. Every clearance and long ball up field barely reached the halfway line. Those that did were well dealt with by the Barrow defence. Worner's fumbled save tucked in by Smith 1-0 If this is Wheeler's idea of "Direct Football" then it's a joke!! There was absolutely no attempt to play the ball on the ground and move it around in the weather conditions until Romaine came on at 77minutes and Paxman given 6 to show how it should be done. After a Barrow sending off the Stones had 3 really good free kick opportunities just outside of the box - all totally a farce!! I thought this management team with all their fancy talk and ideas could at least have figured out how get the players to take a decent free kick? All in all I would be very surprised if The Stones were in this league next season if this afternoons performance is anything to go by. I take my hat off to the 20/30 Stones supporters who made the match - it was nice to hear some Kentish accents again - these folks are the real true Stones Supporters especially the 6 who stood at the Holker End for the whole game ! Hopefully meet up with you again at The Gallagher one day. PorkyStone - I hope that you enjoyed your day out in The Lakes, enjoyed The Mikasa beer and got home safe. NWS - your a light weight Dude - a spot of rain and a bit of wind means you had to stay in a Carlisle pub this afternoon ? COYS.

I want this management team to succeed. We have a good squad. We should be able to pull away and if we don’t, it’s not due to lack of investment in the squad.
I see the likes of Jamar, Stuart Lewis and Jai Reason celebrating for their new clubs and it makes me sad.

As one of the 21 hardy / stupid souls who went to Holker Street yesterday ( home safe @ 23.15 btw ) I'd like to comment as follows. Not much to add to 'bermudastone's' fine summary really, Barrow are a team on a good recent mini run, but we competed well with them, had Cass's effort gone in instead of hitting the post & had we made more of the two free kicks conceded by Barrow's ' last man ' in the second half we might be looking at a point. In saying that, Worner made three blinding saves during the game, and personally gutted for him that his fumble presented Barrow with a tap in to win. So same old, but a little better than previous. I too really don't think that we'll be in this league next year, we've already spurned too many point scoring opportunities against mediocre opponents. All the more reason to do these northern aways this season. Getting back up out of Nat South won't be easy. Did we mention how bastard cold it was ? In particular the howling gale coming down Holker Street walking back to the car after the game. Talking of cars, I'd like to put on record my deep respect due for 'bermudastone' & thanks for his driving help yes'day in Cumbria. Good driving, fine taste in music, great navigation skills & fine tour guiding for the extracurricular on Walney Island - top effort fella, hope the wheel hub has calmed itself down .

Sorry we missed each other Still not really being there tho, is it, sitting in Barrow's luxurious press area, being fed local Cumbrian delicacies by comely local girls, having a half time foot massage.... Should have tried the end of the Stand, where only stoneshistoryguys rapier wit protected us from spikey home fans.

Fairly certain, judging from his StonesTV interview, that Harry and I weren't watching the same game yesterday (and before anyone else comments I was at Holker Street).
According to Harry all areas of the team played well and everyone gave everything. That's certainly one view.
Swayne and Wassmer weren't any better than DeHaviland and Finney and played like they didn't know each other. Harry's comment on Wassmer was that he won every header he went for, failing to comment on headers he should have gone for and didn't, tackling, closing down and generally reading the game.
Personally I thought bringing on Aryan before Romain or Paxman was a mistake. Talking of which it was his mistake in front of us that led to the goal. A 'simple' hoof up field went about 4 yards to one of their players and 10 seconds (ish) later we'd conceded.
Do agree with others that we were tactically inept for most of the second half playing in to the wind and our two free kicks late on from just outside the box were woeful. Barrow weren't very good themselves and we at least did create a few reasonable chances so in that respect there is at least a glimmer of hope for some optimism as there have been many games this season where a reasonable chance was a novelty.

Straight red any day of the year, but when do we ever get anything from referees? Would we have scored against nine? Probably not. Did we deserve a draw? Maybe. Would a point have made much difference to the supporter's mood? Perhaps - it would certainly have helped the player's confidence.

You appear to have me at a disadvantage Porky; Still, glad my ‘wit’ kept you amused - it kept me from throwing myself over the edge of the stand head first - the football was terrible🤣

Glad that you enjoyed your day out Porky - despite the weather and game. Great fun driving back in that weather without using the brakes wasn't it ? Good news is that Francoise spent the day in the mechanics hospital and has responded well to her treatment. Bad news is that I haven't got the bill yet but in my experience with a woman ( especially French models ) is that I doubt that it will be cheap. Perhaps see you next season but not holding my breath!!!! COYS
