I would employ a new first team coach to replace Southall and also involve Lewis as a part of the permanent coaching set-up. Sam-Yorke will obviously leave and I'd also wield the axe on Anderson, Reason, Prestedge, Muldoon, Phipps, Loza and Osei respectively. There is sure to be someone else I've forgotten about but frankly, it's not such a bad time to start with an almost blank sheet of paper because many of the performances have been totally inadequate and some of the football quite dreadful. Phillips would be a good permanent signing if he doesn't receive a better offer from elsewhere, but the emphasis ought to change in any case to a more dynamic and energetic midfield instead of the plodding dross that typified 2017/18. I think Saunders has to realise if he hasn't done already that either he gets rid of many of these players or they will eventually get rid of him and it might be much sooner than many people think.
Michael Cheek's name has been mentioned a few times as a main striker, but a transfer fee would probably be payable and the likes of Aldershot Town and Leyton Orient will be able to offer him far better terms. For all the abuse he received from our supporters, Kedwell looked better to me than all but one of the strikers we've employed since 2016. Not really good enough for League Two though, so if Ebbsfleet get promoted it will be interesting to see what happens to him and my understanding is that he's OOC in two months' time anyway. As I say, we could do a lot worse and in fact have done on several occasions.

I ve said previously I think JS needs to replace Southall with someone who,s more up to date with this league and the players. Lewis is an ideal replacement for a coaching role and could assist Saunders with recruitment. As for retaining players I have a feeling we will have a long long wait ahead of us this summer before many player commits themselves to Maidstone for the coming season.

However if you changed "any player commits" to "many players commit" I'd be more inclined to agree.

I would be surprised if Jay has not already agreed and signed-off at least 3 new contracts to existing players. Don't expect the club to drip feed stuff on a day by day basis, more likely to be batches. Next week the press boys are likely to be kept busy with news For me there are 4 groupings
Favourites for retention and new contracts include Worgan, Hare, Wynter, Lewis and Turgott (a worrying short list)
Loan boys (Coker, De-Havilland, Phillips, Finney) must surely be nailed on to receive offers, but how many will accept ?
Then a few possibles like Reason, Anderson, Osei, Loza, Richards, Wraight, Twumasi. All are decent players but when you are looking to strengthen, none of them can be confident of new contracts and some will surely move on.
And then there's another half dozen who I will be very surprised to see back in the squad next season. Phipps, Okuonghae, Sam Yorke, Paxman, Muldoon, Prestedge

Agree with most of that.
Anderson won't be resigned and iam not sure Loza will be either. But i think Seth Reason and Wraight probably will be.

If Dartford don't get promoted, I wonder if Jay has Alfie Pavey on his potential shortlist? Scored over 20 goals in National League South this season and was on our books once before signing for Millwall

And even better if itβs at Dartfords expense after getting promoted !!

Very few, if any, of the present playing staff or management will be contracted beyond 30 June 2018. The added problem with Phillips is that despite his inexperience he has performed well from the off in a struggling side, and that won't have gone unnoticed by other National League clubs. There's nothing wrong with young players using Maidstone United as a stepping stone if the side improves whilst they're here. I think Phillips will know by now that he's done enough to win a regular place in the projected starting XI for 2018/19 and that will put him firmly in the shop window and also make him a better footballer.

All these players that people want to see moved on were signed by Jay. So for me Jays judgement comes into question. If Jay stays and it looks as if he will, then another season of mediocrity is looming.
