Woking pulled off the great escape last year, but this time round they don’t have DSY 🤔
Hold on a minute...... does his league goal against us last season cancel out his league goal for us this season..!? 🤭

Good question - more of a wish than a substantiated argument, I'm afraid. But here goes: Definitely Flish and Mills (fit!), and a personal favourite of mine, Yemi - and BJT (if only for the pens - although I'd like to see him start more games). And, of course, The Pig. Not entirely sure about Lokko, but probably take a chance on him too. But what I'd really like back is the team spirit of those times, the self-belief and the desire. Generating team spirit has always (apparently) been one of Jay's strengths, but that seems to have waned recently. Despite my (slightly dodgy) nostalgia for last season's team, I still think the current lot are more than capable of avoiding relegation - what's missing is what we had psychologically last year. If Jay can somehow get that back for the remaining games, we're safe. Flisher was never going to be anything more than an impact sub for us if he had stayed, he seemed to lose his edge ever since his injury, Mills I believe was matched by Anderson, this season if anything Anderson has been left wide open by the lack of cover from Loza in many games. Pig was never going to be here for too long he was a luxury we were lucky to have, the better he played for us the more other clubs wanted him. As for Lokko as soon as he rushed to leave here then the door should be bolted behind him, as a manager I would want a team of players who want to be in my team. Yemi is the only one I would of wanted to keep, I have already said BJT was a big loss for us. As for the sides attitude that is down to the management to install and maintain. I don't usually defend JDL, JB, but he did say 'fit' for Flisher and Mills. Flisher prior to his injury was easily good enough for this league. It is the injury that did him though. I don't accept your analysis on Mills and Anderson. Anderson is a disaster. The amount of tackles he simply misses (leaving the oppo player running into space) is stunning and the constant stream of crosses I watched coming in from his side of the park against Dagenham and Fylde was concerning. A lot of the time he wasn't getting close enough to either block the cross or force the winger to think again. As for his passing...On Pigott you did say which players would he liked to have kept so he told you.

Anderson seems to get skinned all too easily and defensively he can't hold a candle to Tom Mills

Another way ott assassination job nws !
In fairness to Anderson, imo he is a very decent full back.
Comparing with Millsy ?
Must admit Tom has the edge.

Mills had the luxury of left sided midfielders, Flish and BJT, who knew their defensive duties. Until Saturday you would have to say that Anderson's support from the midfield was non-existent, but against Fylde we defended as a whole team which made a massive difference. I know at times I've been banging on about the midfield not doing enough to support the defence but to be fair to them, they probably haven't had much support from the forwards. The big difference on Saturday was the work rate of the front three which had a knock on effect throughout the whole team.

Highlights certainly made Coker look a handful - another season on loan would be nice, and probably quite realistic to hope for.

I,m guessing that in the case of Coker and Phillips we may well end up with another case of the Pig for next season, I cannot see either of them attracting attention from league clubs during close season, therefore they may well accept an offer from the club to stay a year an if they play well disappear in next season,s transfer window.

However, any of the scares generally originated from the left hand side. The amount of times I thought 'what is Anderson doing'. A sentiment that was echoed around me in words by others. He played better second half but his defending is generally poor. He gets caught out of position too often, he misses tackles and just seems to simply allow crosses into the box to happen with little or no attempt to close them down.

So now you consider a good fullback to be someone that cannot tackle and allows crosses to get into the box with no attempt to get near the man and try and stop them. OK. Instead of calling my posts way OTT assassination jobs why not watch what happens. Everyone around me can see it (and that was pretty much an entirely different set of people second half because I changed ends). Anderson did do better in the second half than the first and he actually put some nice passes to forwards in but, I'm sorry Nick, his defending is mediocre to poor. If you want to get a feel for what I mean check out 5.35 and 6.35 on the highlights

He provided something for the defenders to think about. My main concern about Coker would be how much of a goal threat he carries. For all his skill, tricks and finesse (and he has bags of those) he doesn't seem to have that killer instinct. However, that might change with a longer run in the team. Would like to see him get on the scoresheet before the end of the season.

Oh and to be fair to players. I gave De Havilland a real slating when he first appeared but he seems to be performing much better now.

We're not in a position to refuse players like that, so we just have to take the chance. Hopefully we've learnt from the Pigott experience and will be ready with replacements if required. Also, hopefully, we've learnt from the Hines business as well, and won't bring in any more flash players who cause trouble - even if they do score goals! I thought Turgot might be the same sort of player, but I think I was wrong on that - he's not trouble like Hines, and, given the right support/formation/whatever, he can be a superb player, not just a flash Harry.
Someone posted a breakdown of the sort of players we get/need the other day (which I now can't find!) and I thought that was an excellent summary of where we are and what we need to progress.
