The rumour that Fylde would give free entry to ticket holders of the abandoned game has now been confirmed.
There was no obligation for them to do this so I publically applaud them for the gesture.
I still want the three points as well though.

Well you’d have thought that’s now the norm really. Can’t see many making it up there for a midweek fixture as there was only about 150 for the Saturday game if memory serves me correctly.

When the Club announced the free coach they said it was for those of the 68 who made the original trip. Couldn't find the match report on either site to confirm this because technically there wasn't a match.

When the Club announced the free coach they said it was for those of the 68 who made the original trip. Couldn't find the match report on either site to confirm this because technically there wasn't a match. An interesting philosophical point. The match happened, hundreds of people witnessed it, but, technically, it didn't. In my West Ham days, we fielded an ineligible player* in a League Cup game against Villa. We won the game on pens, but the player's ineligibility was then discovered and the game was declared void and had to be replayed. Inevitably, we lost the 'replay'. Amongst Hammers, this is, even now, referred to as the 'Villa replay', but, of course, to everyone else it was just the 'Villa Cup game', the 'first' game having officially never actually happened. (*Manny Omoyinmi - who had played in an earlier round, whilst on loan at Gillingham. The friend I used to go to UP with was a some-time Gills supporter and had actually been at the League Cup game Manny had played in, but, in a moment of spectacular brain failure, he failed to remember this when he saw Manny listed as a sub. A quiet word with a steward at half time could have ensured Manny never came on and, with luck, no one would have spotted the problem. As it was, he only remembered on the drive home, when we were reliving the pen shoot out - suddenly he went quiet and muttered "Oh f**k, he played at the Gills game...")

** West Ham have fielded a few illegitimate players over the years. Julian Dicks springs to mind.

Fair bit of rain up there tonight and then more tomorrow, up to about mid-day. Then it's overcast, cool and windy. Lovely, balmy north-western weather...
So, game on...
Fylde's current form is frightening. They've won five of their last 6, and drawn one - 16 points out of a possible 18 - including a 6-0 thrashing of the top of the table side on Saturday. They haven't lost at home for eight games (5W, 3D), and they've pulled themselves up from nineteenth, just six games ago to 9th, with a game in hand. They go into the play-offs at 6 or 7 if they beat us.
Our form on the other hand is (insert appropriately depressing adjective). Even borrowing Dave's black and amber specs and determinedly ignoring reality, the best you can say is that we are at least consistent. You now have to go back 12 (league) games to find one that we won - this must be the 'best' run we've had since coming home. Although we have at least not managed to lose away for the last four games, so there is hope...
Despite nws and his 'colleague''s poor opinion of our last home game, I actually thought we played better than I had seen us for some time. OK, we ballsed up totally and snatched a suicidally awful loss from the jaws of comfortable victory, but the difference between losing 2-3 and winning 4 or 5-2 wasn't actually that great. Most of those who were actually there know that, with a different ref, and a bit more luck (and no mind-blowingly schoolboy mistakes!), and it could have been a very different game.
So, despite everything, I think we'll give them a good game. Even in the somewhat depleted state we're in now, we are still a talented and hardworking side, capable of equalling more or less any side in the league. I honestly can't see us winning, but you never know with football - 9 out of 10 games like this the best we'd get is a draw, but there's always that 1 in 10.
Although, if there is a football God and he is open to a deal - I'd take a narrow loss at Fylde in exchange for a win on the 3rd...

Playing better than we have done for some time does not necessarily equate to playing well. It is notable that you can read some of my views yet on this thread seem to have not been able to note your utterly incorrect assertion about Julian Dicks. Never mind. Back to one-eyeism it is then.
