See this is being talked about on twitter. 25k... true?
AFC Wimbledon have had a bid accepted for Maidstone United striker Joe Pigott after meeting his buy-out of £25,000. #afcwimbledon #Maidstone

Sadly this sounds like it might be true.I assume Joe would have had the final choice whether to stay or leave seeing it’s a buyout clause that’s been reached?

Not unexpected, I suppose, but if true would be a real blow. Best scenario is Joe staying to the end of the season, but if he does go, can only wish him well. He's always given 100% and owes us nothing.

Can't find any confirmation anywhere other than that one tweet, and Judging by the responses their fans are particularly underwhelmed. Hope it turns out to be nothing more than idle speculation. And 25k is peanuts for the only regular scorer in our squad.

Jay has been touting Joe's availability around the media, presumably to maximise any transfer revenue. As ever, I wish a departing player all the best and thank him for all his work. The small number of lunatics on Facebook who slagged him off may realise such players are hard to find and replace. Same goes for Hines.

Maybe we should have set the release clause at £50 million but then again if we had he wouldn't have joined us in the first place

I think piggott and hines have both had there day in the football league, and should have realised they have reached there level now and stayed put with us. I don't think either of them are fL standard anymore.

Hope the rumours are wrong but everything points to the Wombles. Pigs will be a big miss but we can only wish him all the best in his career

Don't think Wimbledon are the only club to have bid for him

I'm comfortable with this being our niche. Find talented players who can't quite get fixed up at FL, bring them on and get the best out of them, sell them on for a few quid. One of the benefits of going full time. With players apparently not being paid over summer, the hungrier ones will move on anyway. Can you imagine years ago, being able to sign young hungry players of such a calibre?

I agree with you Barnabus but it doesn't prevent a feeling of disppointment over losing Pigs Stones should benefit from at least 25k, perhaps more, but we are hardly likely to get an equal replacement. Still onward and upwards, the size of the club and the league we play in opens doors to players we could previously only dreamed about
