Amazingly muted reaction to this game (and this season) - really puzzling.
Let's reiterate where we are:
In an incredibly hard league (way beyond the old Conference), we are 5th, just two points off the top. In the Football Web Pages predicted final table we are third - in the top play-off places. We are second only on GD in the form table (6 weeks) and first in the 4 week and 10 week versions. We are unbeaten at home, and on an unbeaten run of 5 games, having only lost once in the last 10. And we are getting average gates of over 2,400.
This is the best of times - almost up there with getting promoted to the FL and making the play-offs in our first season. But you'd never guess it from this board.
Has the board died, or are we just taking all this for granted??

Maybe the people who made the long journey to Barrow are just getting out of their beds after a long day yesterday, I don’t know about you but i was up at 5am and finally got back to bed at 1am, in regards to this forum it isn’t what it used to be, so in essence I believe it’s on the downward spiral
Regarding where we are currently I believe the majority if not all of the supporters are absolutely ecstatic about how well we are doing and all hope it may continue, nothing being taken for granted but also not counting our chickens so early in the season, football is a funny old game

Indeed. They'll only really be 60 people who can have a decent informed opinion of the way we played. Most of those don't bother with this forum anymore. My highlight was discoveri f the Wetherspoons app and go ring out you can get your food and drink without getting up

I and the good lady were part of the 60. In brief, old school non league ground, (shit), friendly stewards. First half we were poor and Barrow played some nice football without ever threatening Lee. Second half was a lot brighter with Piggot winning a few more headers. Overall we just about deserved the win.
On a funny side, after our first half "goal" was ruled offside, the locals gave us lots of banter for us wrongly cheering the non goal. The stewards then bollocked the locals for taking the piss out of us! Lol Go figure! Lol
Another great away win. COYS

Also learned that the Furness Railway Wetherspoons is the largest Wetherspoons in Barrow

Just good to have a cushion of points from relegation zone this time round. May come in handy when we lose 10 on the trot mid way through the season or something.

Is that not promotion material when you don't play at your best but still win! I think we have a shout for a top 7 finish, would be a great achievement.

Maybe every one is being a tad more realistic and keeping both feet on the ground and not getting too excited, it,s only the 1st October, so let,s keep a lid on it until we get to April and find our selves still in the play off positions.

Whilst not saying this isn't a hard league, as it clearly is, at the moment there doesn't seem to be any 'stand out' teams unlike last year! Everyone seems to be capable of beating everyone! Had we not thrown 2 points away last week we could have been joint top, how weird would that have been? Early days I know, but from what I've seen and heard from others we could easily win it or finish 18th! I'd still take mid table 3rd round of FA Cup and winning the FA Trophy at Spurs ground! ;-) Now where's my medication? :-)

Honestly I am terribly excited but I like to keep that to myself at this time of the season. Spouting off on here saying we're gonna win this or that is at 'the end of the day' futile. If we're still bang on form come April, I'll let out the jizz.

People like to post when there is something controversial to moan about. You would have to be a real misery to be unhappy at the moment. Meanwhile, the match discussion on the Barrow forum is currently 16 pages.

Great that the team are doing well, but 'success' this season could lead to more problems than we are ready to cope with. A couple of extra games in the play offs? Fine. Actual promotion is just plain Scary Mary. The stadium is not big enough and the pitch is not allowed at present. Then look at Forest Green, so long coverting the Football League and now they are there, bottom - despite all their money. For me a season or two to consolidate, with a couple of good cup runs to put money in the bank would be far better in the long run.

Good, in theory, but our recent history must be putting the willies up Terry and Oliver! FGR is making me smile, admittedly, but Lincoln are doing well - and our first season in the FL was a blinder, with a weaker team than we have now.

I listened to the Barrow manager on Radio Cumbria after the game and he could only be described as delusional. He felt that their goalie wasn't troubled other than the penalty, they were unlucky to lose, played pretty well, with plenty of effort and the difference was fine margins on luck. From what I saw Barrow mustered nothing of any worth up front, were mediocre in midfield and pretty poor at the back.

Some people, myself included, are not being miserable with what they post, I am merely being realistic and keeping things in perspective, yes it,s a fantastic position we are currently in, but a couple of bad results an we could be just above the danger zone. So I,m keeping it all in perspective for now.
