Get out of bed the wrong side Dave? No, I just get fed up with people insulting anyone who's opinion differs to their own. Mrplow obviously is oblivious to the fact that the very use of the phrase "holier than thou" means he's being exactly what he indiscriminately labels a whole section of our support, most of whom he's probably never even met. I actually thought i came up with a very valid point. Football is a very opinionated sport.

If they were to do that, season tickets would have to rise to offset.
And it appears wet coaches scuppered it, so a bit like shooting ones self in the foot?

Where did I say the club should run the coaches at a loss then? When did I say you had?
I asked a question, not a statement or accusation.

Obviously, it's up to clubs whether or not they run coaches, and no doubt they would lose money on some trips, but the benefit for them is that they more or less guarantee some away support, even at the most distant grounds. Footballers always say they appreciate the fans at away games and it's a huge psychological boost running out to cheers from your own fans and seeing/hearing those fans during a game. Maybe that makes enough difference to be worth a few points in a season? If so, it's a small cost for the club, compared to the benefits.
I'm not actually advocating this, as I think Tim does a better (and cheaper) job than the club probably would - just explaining my earlier comment.
Slightly OT - I went on quite a few away trips in the old days, with transport ranging from trains to minibuses. Obviously the club ran the trains (that would be a bit of a challenge, even for Tim), but I can't remember who organised the coaches. I don't think there was an iMUSC (got the name right this time!) in those days?

The organisers of the coach should be ashamed of themselves. The only losers here are the fans. Sorry state of affairs. Please tell me I've missed the joke here? Ok, just a little nibble, imusc have attempted to run coaches for the past few seasons. We started to run them not because I fancied using about 8 hours of my time organising each coach, but because the club found them not profitable and were planning to only run 'selected' coaches and couldn't tell us in advance which matches they'd run them for. Had we not taken up the running of them, I can assure you that far more coaches would have been cancelled or not even attempted at all I'm sorry we couldn't a coach to Macclesfield, I was away in Barcelona still taking calls and texts on the Eastleigh coach so trying to run another whilst on holiday and knowing we didn't have anyone to steward it would have been very difficult, I am allowed to have a holiday, this is a unpaid part of my life! The Hartlepool coach took longer than usual to organise and lost us close to £250, this is a business model that cannot continue indefinitely, we felt that Macclesfield and Barrow would probably be similar Coaches are funded by imusc members and profits on previous coaches, profits from previous seasons are used to sponsor various clubs within the Maidstone United family and Maidstone United FC itself! We helped fund the clubs trip to Arras In previous years we have sponsored our disability, kids and ladies football teams, we are funding three teams this year So I'm sorry some of you feel I (we) have let you down, I can assure you if someone comes forward to help steward one (if myself or other committee members aren't available) and enough people actually book seats, we will continue to run coaches! I'm still hoping Skydweller's comments were a joke going over my head, or maybe just send me £250 for every under used coach!

It was a tongue in cheek post following up JDL's post and a number of comments lately picking holes in your excellent organisation i.e how dare you have a life as you point out yourself. Keep up the good work, no offence intended!

Keep up the good work, no offence intended! My apologies, clearly my irony warning light had a malfunction! Thanks for the kind comments from texts received yesterday, I have had a couple of offers from our regulars to help steward a coach going forward, so all we need is enough people to make them cost effective!

Come in enough numbers & a coach trip Barrow or Torquay is warranted. Maybe people can't be arsed to wake up for a 6 am departure.

Whether they can be arsed is another matter entirely.
