As the team contemplate full time next season, it would be interesting to know what their day jobs are and how that might affect their decision making. At the end of the day, football is not exactly a job for life, so those with a developing career away from the pitch may have to make some difficult decisions. The KM today reports that only Worgan, Mills, Flisher and Paxman have contracts for next year. Flisher we know works for his father's carpentry business, while Mills was recently said on this forum to be a double glazing fitter. So, what of the rest??

I think a large contingent of our squad will be looking to go full time anyway. Lewis, Loza, Pigott, Okuonghae, Twumasi were full time before they came to us and I imagine would be looking to go full time again. I think Bromley are part time so I'm not sure about Prestedge. Lokko, Paxman, Phipps etc. are all still young and I'm not sure if they have jobs but I know Lokko has spoken about going full time. Bobby Joe has recently got a new full time job I believe so there's a question mark over that. To be honest, I can't really see us losing any player from the current squad because they don't want the full time schedule.

It's not so much if they have jobs, it's what sort and who they work for. AND what we mean by full-time.
Flish's dad is hardly going to sack his son for doing a bit of day-time training and having the odd mid-week day off, for instance. And other jobs/employers could be as flexible. Kenny Hill, our captain in the old days, worked for Britelite (our sponsors then as well), but rumour had it that he wasn't actually supposed to turn up for work too often.
On the other hand, if you're starting on a well-paid career in the City or similar and have just landed a plum job...

When we made it to the football league last time, wasn't it the case that John Still chose not to become a full-time manager because he had a lucrative job?

Ha, that's right, it was an excuse at the time but I remember you unfolded the truth about it in your book - sorry, it had slipped my mind.
