I have been reading the forum ever since the smoke bomb situation happened at bromley. I am one of these so called "mindless idiots, young twats, hooligan etc" I am a younger fan 15 years old and support my local team. I go to games with many mates of mine most of us are season ticket holders and I feel we have been targeted by a small minority of people because we are younger and come in a group. We are no hooligans, thugs. We are well educated football fans that have a huge passion of supporting our local team. I've read the threads over the last few months and it has been very frustrating to read. I thought I'd post on here to show you we are no harm to this football club and are up for a chat about football at anytime. As for the situation last Saturday with Dover, we had a few mates that are Dover fans who wanted a day out so we invited them to the game, there was no trouble as usual so I don't see the fuss over that. I do travel away not to all the games as it comes at large cost for me. I've been to Lincoln, York, Bromley, Braintree, Sutton, Aldershot, Boreham Wood and have thoroughly enjoyed myself meeting many new mates. The last thing I want is to walk into the ground with people automatically thinking these are the boys to keep away from there the trouble as it's just not the case. I will be attending Dagenham on Tuesday and am very looking forward to it. Onwards and upwards coys!

Very well said. No fan should feel unwelcome because of their age. Need all the support we can get to help the club grow. UTM

Great post - your support for the team is welcome and admirable, I know the players and management very much appreciate it, long may it continue !!

So you still think it's acceptable to let off smoke bombs and throw hats on the pitch? I must admit you create one hell of an atmosphere but things like this let you down.

I will be attending Dagenham on Tuesday and am very looking forward to it. Onwards and upwards coys! I welcome you wholeheartedly. I think I can probably speak for a majority of longer-standing fans when I say that one of the reasons for campaigning to get Maidstone United back in Maidstone was so that young fans in the town can have a club to follow and support (just as we did in the eighties and for some..ahem...further back). We don't want idiots that give us a bad name but TBH the few idiotic incidents I have witnessed down the years - with the exception of one can throwing incident when the Gallagher first opened - have come from people that are beyond their teenage years. I don't think it is 15 year olds that have caused the several beer throwing incidents at the Gallagher in previous years. Please keep coming, making noise and enjoying the games and do come have a natter (when I occasionally do turn up).

There is an element that is bringing smoke bombs to games - As an older fan I cannot see who they are but know that their actions are effecting how away matches are now regarded by the police, stewards and management of our away hosts. These are the facts.

Is it then acceptable for a grown man to be drunk on the terrace and unable to stand up. Not heard to many people criticising that.

and keep away from the grown ups ..they're a bad influence Yes names and grown-ups to avoid. Tim - epicentre of trouble - has been known to smash advertising hoardings Trolley - Likes to chuck vitriol and abuse at his own players until he manages to get a similar response from the player. Ant - Starts up sweary songs about his fellow supporters StoneColdRuss - Causes singing disturbances in hostelries - although confines this to the west of the country Dave U - Likes to throw a bit of abuse the ref's way - mostly home games Islandstone - The clue is in the name Toonarmy - Northern Neanderthal - confines most poor behaviour for Essex Ob1 - Scarf waving menace who will have your eye out at 150 paces Frenchstone - Throws Fanta around on the terrace La femme de Vic Jobson - Vitriol and abuse to refs (on live broadcasts no less) Jimmy Reed - aka aggrostone - abuses goalkeepers Historystone - our London Bench breaking specialist I'm sure there's more but beware. It's a jungle in that Gallystad

Although, thinking about it, Newcastle United would then have a support akin to Braintree's

This great club lost a whole generation of fans. It is brilliant to see so many youngsters at the matches home and away. Dont be put off by the moaning old gits!!

A great point well made, and no mention of 'bruv, fam, innit' or any other terms that yoofs speak today, good on yer (oops). Seriously though, I stand every home game towards the bar side of the town end and there are many young men of your age and the majority of them will have a genuine conversation about the club and football generally. We all know who the idiots are, and I would say that most of them are somewhat older than 15. Everyone should be made welcome, it's groups like yours that help us get the attendances that we get and the point you make about it being a large cost to you shows your commitment, well done.
