Without reigniting a newbies debate - if losing at home to Woking is classed as embarrassing then we've come a long way in the last few years. Oh...we have. Oh get real Ant. We are on a par with Sheffield United and well on course to be alongside Manu and Man c in five years.

I've not been yet this season but I imagine it's like the Ryman league scenario first time round. Full expectations but not power in the engine room. Get my drift? I blame .......Sam tydeman....or Ben Lewis.

How many times?! The playing budget and the capital budget are entirely separate entities. The first is funded by income, the second is funded purely by investment - mostly by the owners. Jay's budget is based on how much of our income the owners chose to allow him to use. Income is not (directly) used to fund the developments and the owners do not buy, or pay for, players. Fine. But then can you explain Oliver's comment in today's programme : "Next season when the new stand is up and running we should hopefully be able to add to the playing budget even within the parameters we set of operating sensibly and sustainably like any business should." I didn't get a programme today, so I haven't read this, but the short answer is - I can't. It goes completely against the business model they constantly refer to (i.e. the club has to be self sustaining). I can only speculate that they recognise that progress in the National (or possibly even survival) might require extra cash injections (maybe to go full-time?) and they anticipate having to do this (despite the much lauded business model). But, obviously, at the moment they can't, because any available money they might have is tied up building the new stand. So, if that's what he meant, it's effectively the reverse of the situation Senna (and many others) often cite - it's not that the expansion is taking money out of the playing budget, it's just that the current additional investment is preventing them from contributing to the playing budget, if they wanted to. Personally, I find this a bit worrying. The key difference between our club and so many others (e.g. Margate and Fleet) is that the physical assets and the day-to-day running are managed entirely separately, and the playing side (thanks to the 3G pitch and our large crowds) is self-sustaining. This means that we can survive without worry and progress naturally (within the limits of the gates we can attract), without ever facing the sort of collapse we did under Thompson, or that clubs like Margate suffer when their sugar daddy pulls out. If Terry and Oliver are contemplating breaking away from this model and funding the playing side themselves, we start to drift into the 'sugar daddy' situation. Naturally, I assume T & O know what they are doing and will only fund the playing budget in a limited and tightly controlled manner, expecting it to again become self-sustaining once the cash injection has done its work, but I still find it slightly worrying.

After calming down and sleeping on it before posting it's obvious Jay has now had it with a few players. His sound cloud interview suggests a bit of a cull and I just wonder how many will be leaving In my opinion only ,if I was Greenhalgh,Paxman,Murphy, Sweeney,Rogers , I would be worried today Any more names you think are in the crosshairs?
Ok we now know we are deep in a relegation dogfight going into winter with a horrific looking month ahead . Plus points for us are we're not adrift without hope. We need physically stronger players no more lightweight players, a midfield general as we all know. IF we get the next couple of recruits right. We still have a chance to achieve our seasons goal. Survival . Now. Where is Lincoln. ! COYS In Jay we trust.

I think porkystone is right, but maybe surprised he didn't include Flish in the retained list having said that, Jay has been shopping in the 'bargain basement' from lower leagues any signings from the National League clubs are players who are not exactly premium quality up to this season the Stones have been regarded as a top flight club, which has been attractive to Ryman level players playing against much bigger clubs than ourselves in some cases, many with full time staff, well it's a totally different proposition no point in Jay pointing the figure at some players who are not 'cutting the mustard' at present they are doing their best, they are his signings, if they are not good enough, nobody's to blame that's the real problem facing the club now, why should anybody think that there is an abundance of quality National league players waiting for the call from Jay
