Jay was not exactly 'ahead of the loop' on this call but a good decision all the same. Looked decent signing from Gills last season but the truth is he failed to impress despite getting numerous chances. Seemed a shade ponderous and got caught out of position too often. Never looked properly match fit and not any improvement in pre-season. Some suggestion that he was never 100% committed, with his priorities focused on his developing day job in London. Understandable enough, but not what the Stones need right now. Jay looks to have made 2 excellent signings to fill the centre back berths and along with Jamie Coyle the team is looking pretty strong in that position. Good luck Callum but I think his footie career is probably going backwards

Sometimes I think it's tough for players who seem to be living on the verge of full-time professional careers - do they throw everything at football, or accept it isn't quite happening and go for the safer option of a career in something else and get the best out of the game around that? We've seen Ben Greenhalgh facing the same question as he flirted with committing himself more to golf after he left us. Maybe for Callum, after his injuries, prioritising his career outside football is better for him. Obviously he is a very good player and I am sure he'll end up doing a great job for a NLS or Ryman Prem club.
Jay is always honest with his players and doesn't want to hold them back. Good on him for that.

Agree re the career debate must be really hard and then when you add in family life on top.
Chipped in with a couple of crucial goals though, new Nr 9?

Good decision. For whatever reasons he has failed to impress me and that was echoed again at Ashford.

Driver does have a problem with wingers. This season is going to be make or break for him with us. I have a feeling he might struggle defensively.

I have a feeling he might struggle defensively. I think we will see a few players extended to their limits BUT in a higher league we will not always have the ability to replace them, so, rather than slag down, as a few do, we will have to support to produce their best more often Purposely not naming names (wouldn't anyway)as I really don't know who, or how many, this will apply to
